Hope I can go there again!
Everyone at the DeSoto was very friendly and helpful. I forgot my German passport there (luckily I could get back to Austin with my Texas ID), and they immediately mailed it to me. We rented very comfy beach chairs and an umbrella - convenient if you travel by plane and not by car. Those were set up at about 10 am - for us this was fine, it might not be for people who get up very early and want to go the beach immediately. You walk out of the back entrance of the hotel and you are at the beach, its wonderful! The only thing I didnt like was the note we found in our room saying "Please leave my tip in the room" - I think this is a voluntary thing, and I would say hotel guests usually leave that in the room. The accessibility of the entrance could be improved - if you need to use the little ramp, the door is in your way; it should open to the other side.
Traveler's tip on dining
I can highly recommend MacElwees seafood restaurant just down the road (within walking distance) - fresh fish (order the "catch of the day"!) and good chicken dishes, if you want to take a break from seafood.
