Great location
The Ibis Salmiya was a quirky combination of high-end feel with bare bones amenities. I knew the hotel was "basics only" going in and so was not unpleasantly surprised. The rooms are small with literally only towels, a bar of soap and two plastic cups provided. Coffee was available 24-hours a day at the hotel coffee shop. That said, the room was very clean and comfortable with a nice view of the city. The hotel staff was helpful and pleasant, even taking the time to notice from my passport that it was my birthday and send me a happy birthday message on the room’s flat screen TV. The hotel has nice city views from its restaurants and the gym. By far the hotel’s best feature is its location. It is in the heart of the Salmiya shopping district and has great stores, movie theaters, restaurants and coffee shops within steps of the hotel. There is even a very nice, large grocery store a block from the hotel and the Corniche is within easy walking distance. The only caveat I would give is that the small sparse rooms may not be for everyone and I was disappointed that the deck overlooking the ocean pictured on the hotel’s Web Site was closed due to nearby construction. Overall I had a great experience and would definitely stay at the Ibis Salmiya again.
Traveler's tip
Safety for female travelers has been an issue recently according to some military sources I met and information I read online. I would recommend single female travelers pay the extra money to use the hotel taxi service and skip the street taxis.

Good location, good quality but small rooms
The hotel has an excellent location in the heart of Salmiya. The furnishings are new and clean. There is free wireless internet for guests. But the rooms are very small. For me, it was not a problem but some travellers may disagree.

Great Hotel
I have to say I stayed there this Feb. 09’ during the independence day celebration of Kuwait and it was GREAT. Room is small (as per American standards) but nice and great. The Free internet connection throughout the hotel and in the room was a plus. The iBis is definitely a nice inexpensive place to stay if you are going to be walking all about Kuwait and want a nice place to sleep at night.
