Excellent cheap place to stay.
It is far better to spend an extra $20 on this hotel then to go with the cheapest in town. The hotel on the "Corner", which has lots of great places to eat at and a few shops.

A very nice place to stay if visiting UVA or Charlottesville!
We went down for a wedding at the UVA Alumni Hall, and found the location very convenient. It was about a five minute drive to the Alumni Hall, and twenty minutes to Shenandoah Nat’l Park. We booked the base-line standard room. The room was comfortable, clean, and had a nice, hot shower. There was no fridge in the room, though I’m not sure that’s the case for all rooms.
Traveler's tip on dining
A number of cute restaurants and cafes are in walking distance, including a really tasty gourmet burger restaurant a few stores to the right. Try their fried pickles!
