Wonderful place to stay - highly recommended

The Airotel Parthenon was a wonderful place to stay. The location was perfect as you could walk all over the city from there (and it’s very close to the Acropolis metro). The staff were just fantastic and so very helpful, the room was clean and it was great having the balcony and being able to look out at the orange trees along the street. The hotel and location were very quiet at night and we were able to leave the balcony door open all night without hearing traffic noises. We always felt safe and had a fantastic time. Check out the local bakery (Tiki) which had the most wonderful bread and sandwiches.

Best Location

I would stay there again. Great location only 300 meters to the Acropolis Metro and a 5 euro metro ride to the Airport. Good price.

"WHAT AN INCREDIBLE LOCATION"

For European standards regarding hotels this was extremely good! The staff was always ready to help and so friendly as well as very fluent in English. The location is just over the top as we were basically right at the bottom of the Acropolis and so easy to navigate and get to all the other vicinities. Our rooms were quite comfortable although they were quite stuffy as it seemed there was lack of circulation of air. Overall I must say the hotel was one of our most impressive stays in Europe and yes, I would most certainly recommend it to all!

We went in November and it couldn’t have been better...few crowds...all attractions open...city putting up Christmas decor...and just awesome weather.

BItter sweet

The hotel is in a great area. Walking distance to many sights. The hotel staff was extremely helpful with maps and ideas for things to do. The breakfast also was very good. The downside is the beds. They were very very hard. As if I was on a piece of wood. The carpeting also was very worn and dirty. But the rooms were clean, except for carpeting. I was so surprised that everyone speaks English...Loved Athens

Good experience

Overall good value with good central location to many of the main attractions in Athens. Room was very adequate for the price with excellent heating and cooling. One minor complaint however was the television was preset so that the volume could barely be turned to an audible level. Very annoying when trying to keep abreast of world news.

Well worth the price

Location cannot be beat! Staff extremely helpful in every way. Breakfast buffet very complete. Rooms adequate, but great for the price. Could use a good vacuuming, but otherwise very clean. Definitely a good choice in a great location.

5 minutes to the Acropolis

This hotel is situated in the perfect location. It is 3 blocks from the metro station and 5 minutes walk to the Acropolis and Parthenon. It has the most helpful reception staff who made reservations for us and gave us directions to any place we asked to go and also made recommendations for food. Great internet service in the room, large room and large bathroom. It is located next to a cobblestone street with cute shops and street vendors. It is probably the most beautiful area in Athens.

This is a comfortable hotel and very practical. You need a good room, clean, serviceable. A decent breakfast too. Above all it is very close to entrance to shopping in Plaka, entrance to Acroplolis and entrance to Acroplois museum.

Not a four star, but the location was

This hotel was smaller than expected. This hotel was also labeled a four star... it was not a four star. Despite those two little flaws this had the perfect location and the hotel workers were friendly, helpful and Francesco was a really cool guy. He sent us to a couple other spots on our last night that was away from all the other tourists. PS The breakfast was great and included in our package.

Great location, courteous staff.

Nice, clear, extremely courteous staff. I had to check out at 3:20AM and they insisted on opening up the dining room for me to have breakfast before I leave. Location is great, around the corner from Acropolis and just comfortably removed from the Plaka (that part gets very noisy at night. The cab driver did not quite know how to (or did not want to) get to the hotel because it is off of a pedestrian area so I had to walk 100 meters. The Acropolis metro station on the red line is very close (walkable even with bags).

Not up to ratings

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The hotel advertises a rooftop terrace that does not exist. The room we had was barely adequate with dirty carpets. The bed was firm but comfortable. The elevator was smaller than a home elevator and n ot for the claustrophobic. The main positive for this hotel is it’s proximity to the Acropolis and the Plaka.

very european hotel

best: staff at the front desk - tops location, walking distance to major sites wi fi breakfast comfortable bed suprisingly different: tiny semi self operating elevator european room decor & room size restaurant only open for breakfast fantastic: my wife lost a peiece of jewelry in the room. we called upon returning home. the cleaning staff found it, turned it in & it was fed ex’ed back to us. unless you want american luxury, you wont go wrong staying here. the front desk couldnt try harder to be of service. they ordered cabs, arranged a city tour, allowed us breakfast before the restaurant officially opened, etc. the folks at the front desk were the most helpful we have ever met, anywhere!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

close to major historical athens sites and restaurants.

Our favorite hotel in Athens

We have stayed on four different occasions in Athens, twice at the Airtel Parthenon. This is by far our favorite hotel; we have recommended it to other friends traveling to Athens. They have an xcellent front desk staff; always courteous and helpful. The rooms are quiet, almost soundproof. We were pleased to find a bathtub-shower in the bathroom during our last visit. The hotel is a one and a half block walk from the metro and two blocks from the Plaka --- couldn’t be better.

Great location. Basic hotel

Great location next to the Parthenon. Room very basic. Beds very hard. Had a late arrival after midnight, so only stayed in the room couple of hours. Toilet was leeking and the bathroom lights blew up when turned them on. The staff was very nice and helpful however. Breakfast pretty good. A basic hotel with a great location.

Great location, met all our needs

Very centrally located to the Plaka area of Athens. We could walk everywhere, the area was safe at night, the street our room looked onto was quiet and the staff pleasant and helpful. Though the hotel decor may be a tad dated, it is well maintained and clean. The breakfast was very nice and offered a great variety to choose from. Internet access was available for a small fee. This hotel meets all the needs of a traveler at a reasonable price.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Within walking distance to the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum, the Plaka where all the shops and restaurants are and to all the other ruins/sites. Never used a taxi once. Also very close the the wonderful metro.

Convenient and decent value

Well located, right at the edge of the Plaka and close to everything. Great service, friendly and helpful staff. Typical (older) Greek hotel decor, having travelled quite a bit throughout Greece, there is a pattern here: what is 4 stars in Greece would be 2 stars elsewhere in Europe. This hotel’s facilities were no exception, everything is maintained clean (very clean), but carpets and decor worn and tired. Close to anything you could require, restaurants, bars, tavernas; the Acropolis, Olympiad, Hadrian’s Arch, not far from Piraeus (for good seafood)central in Athens. Reasonable rates. Americans and Brits, Canadians and Aussies will feel very comfortable, even if they do not travel so much - seems like most of the clientele is Anglo and all seemed to be having a good time. Great breakfast buffet, quiet side street, but steps from the sites. All in all, an excellent value for Greece. I would go back.

Traveler's tip on dining

Grab a cab (approx 12 Euros, dep on traffic)and head down to the waterfront at Piraeus - Mikrolimano to (one of the many)restaurants there for great seafood and fish meze. I like Kanaris - but Zefiros is also great - they are famous and the food is great - Well worth the trip.

Great hotel - excellent location

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night in early June. The location is excellent, very close to a subway stop and the acropolis. Especially for a quick trip to Athens, this hotel is excellent because it is close to all the sights. The service was excellent, helping us with our bags, lending us a power adapter, suggesting the best route around the city so we could see all the sights in one afternoon, and letting us into the breakfast early so we could eat before catching our ferry to the islands - I would recommend this hotel highly.

Great location, friendly staff, nice rooms

My wife and I spent our last two nights in Greece at this hotel. The rooms were clean (though not huge; our bed was two small single beds pushed together) and the staff helpful and friendly. We were able to walk to the Acropolis in a few minutes, and the surrounding Plaka neighborhood is vibrant and interesting, with all sorts of restaurants, shops, and access to public transportation. We arrived after midnight because of some travel delays, and the staff knew who we were and were expecting us when we got there. Certainly a nice experience, and we would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a safe, comfortable stay in an unbeatable location.

Excellent location

Hotel Parthenon is located within very easy walking distance of the entrance to the Acropolis and of a subway station. The staff are friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast, while not gourmet, was more than adequate in terms of both quality and variety. And the price was right, especially for that historic area of Athens. Our only disappointment: their rooftop restaurant, with a view of the Acropolis, was undergoing renovation and thus not available to us. Stay tuned for its re-opening.

Airotel Parthenon set the tone for perfect relaxing vacation.

The location was amazing. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and professional an d went above and beyond what we expect. Breakfast w; I tend to be very fussy about coffee, but even that was excellent. The room as well as all of the facility was exceptionally clean. It was wonderful to be able to have a brandy in the bar before calling it a day! Stay in the Plaka was a great location. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be right in the center of a relaxing yet centrally located historical spot. Just a short walk to the Agora and the Acropolis and just around the corner from a great view of the Parthenon.
