least impressed of the four we have stayed at
The indoor pool was warm but looked clouded and was small and we didnt go in. You could really smell the chlorine. Of the four hotels we stayed at in O/C the room was the smallest of all, no utensils were in the kitchen, not much there besides mugs and the appliances. We asked for a couple extra towels, they said, "yes" and we never got them. We liked Carousel, Bayside Princess and Casablanca Oceanside Inn better. They did have a nice elevator at the Monte Carlo. The rooms decor was sort of pretty but looked better in the web pictures advertising the place. It is crossed off my list of places I would return to and a little it is the attitude the place gave off. Maybe it was a bad day for the employees. We were room this and room that and not really people. The hotel was not even full considering it was the end of October so nicer might have been smarter.
Embers Restaurant is great for all you can eat crab legs. We finally found the Sunset Grille and it was not anywhere near as expensive as we had expected and the food was excellent. It was beautiful and the view of docks and boats interesting.

You get what you pay for
The room was clean, it was close to the beach. When we asked for new towels because they were wet when we got to the room they said we had to come down for them. The elevator is the slowest moving machine ever. There is only one ice machine for all the floors and it was empty every time we tried to use it.

Very nice hotel
This is a very nice no-frills hotel right on the downtown boardwalk. The hotel staff was fantastic and extremely helpful (especially in recommending restaurants). The roof-top pool was also a bonus as the weekend we were there there was a hurricane off-shore so we couldnt swim in the ocean. My only complaint was that our air conditioner leaked all over the patio, so it was a bit gross out there (but we werent on the patio much anyway). Also, parking at the hotel is scarce and we had to park at an overflow lot a block away, but it wasnt a huge deal. But all-in-all I was very pleased with my stay!
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
To get uptown we used the $2 ride-on bus, very convenient if youre heading up there during the day or early evening. Getting home in the wee hours of the morning we had to take cabs.
