Good value. Needs better quality of car rental & better non-Indian food options in breakfast buffet.
I had a pleasant 2-day stay in Aug 2008. The staff was very polite and helpful. The room was clean and fairly comfortable. The thermostat did not work; room was too cold. I hired a car through the hotel on both days. The hotel gets these from other companies. Each day the car was quite dirty. The second day the driver tried to cheat me by trying to charge for extra miles for travel from his company to the hotel. Fortunately, I had a cell phone and called the hotel and set that straight. I liked the fact that guests can use the computers in the business center for free. The young lady managing the office was very polite and helpful. It was great to have a free breakfast buffet. The Indian food options were fine but the muffins were mediocre. Could be a problem for those not used to Indian food, if they find it spicy. You could get eggs made to order, which was very nice. I would stay here again if I can’t get a room at the Blue Diamond. I thought "Royal Orchid Central Pune" meant that the hotel was located in central Pune. It’s not. The hotel’s name is "Royal Orchid Central" and it is not in central Pune. But though it is considered a bit far from the center most people will not think of it as too far. It’s only a 15-25 min drive from the center of town depending on traffic.
