Tradewinds Paradise Villas

Our stay here was incredible. We were graciously greeted by Lelo our taxi driver who picked us up at the Air Tropics airport and after brief tour of the town which included where to eat where to drink and most importantly where to find the islands best ice cream we were dropped off at the Paradise Villas. When you arrive at the Villas you are introduced to Manuel. He is the hotel manager and an all around good guy. After you check in be sure to stop by and say hi to him. He can recommend places to eat, things to do and even arrange excursions for you. He booked our trip to Lamani and it was unbelizable. The best rooms to stay in are 21A and 2B. If you want a pool view go with 21A, if its an ocean view you desire then 2B is the choice spot. Everything you need is within walking distance including a local grocery store, a killer local restaurant called The Reef, and the best dive shop on the island, Ecologic Divers, is only a 2 to 3 minute walk down the beach. Not bad place to end up, I highly recommend the Paradise Villas.

Traveler's tip on dining

You have to eat at the Reef. Try the garlic and lime lobster with rice and beans or the stewed chicken. Either way you can’t go wrong.

Great place to stay!

Tradewinds is a great resort, centrally located on San Pedro island. There’s a private dock (the only problem: if you choose to swim in the ocean off the dock, it’s pretty difficult to get back up onto the dock, due to the lack of a ladder so you might need to walk back up to the beach). The hotel is located right next to the Caye Caulker Water Taxi Terminal--no need to take a cab to the hotel. Each villa comes with a kitchen, dining area, living room, bathroom and bedroom and the hotel is a minute or so walk to two grocery stores. We cooked breakfast every day that we were not on an excursion, so we were able to save some money on food. It’s also really close to some delicious restaurants and great tour options. The main guy at the hotel (whose name escapes me) was extremely helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The only problem we had was a lack of towels, we had exactly three (and there were three of us staying at the hotel), but you’ll definitely need more when you are out doing things...the towel thing was definitely minor though, and did not downgrade the rest of the experience at the hotel. There is a great pool and seating area, but towards the end of the week, we noticed that the water was a little dirty (maybe gets cleaned once a week or so?)
