Good location

The hotel is located close to Angor Wat and its not that far from city center. However, it looked as a massive "transit hotel" and I was surprised to notice that they charge for the second paper roll you use!! For Asia standards its a 3 star hotel, good condition but you cant’ get much better for a few more dollars.

great hotel and service

Hotel airport shuttle was there to pick us up early in the morning and the driver was polite and courteous. he told us about the hotel and and area. check-in was easy and the room is not as large but clean. only problem we encountered was the shower were temperature was up and down. great business center even left my laptop one night and they return it to me the next day. we really enjoy out stay here and highly recommend it, the price is not bad with daily breakfast.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

the tuk tuk outside the hotel gave us a great tour of angkor wat for only $15 and when you get to the gate there are student that could give you a tour of angkor wat for $15 and give’s you pointer to take the best picture shot.

Excellent Service

The Tara Angkor Hotel is only two years old. The room decor is minamalist modern, but has ev which was much appreciated in the hoterything a traveler would need-bottled water provided each day, in-room safe, welcome fruit plate, modern bathroom facilities. The one criticism that I would have is that the mattresses were extremely hard, but this seems to be true in most Asian hotels. This hotel has a wonderful secluded pool/poolside dining area which was much appreciated in the hot, humid weather. Excellent service from the front desk to the wait staff.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The Siem Reap Night Market is the place to shop for local crafts and souvenirs.

Very happy....

Great value for your money.... wonderful service... The staff couldn’t be more helpful.... They started operation in 2007, so it’s a fairly new hotel (fresh and clean)... The hotel is located at the quieter part of Siem Reap away from the busy old town area... The lone restaurant is just ok... All in all, very very satisfied....

Nice place

The hotel room was neat, clean, and was a great deal overall. The beds were extremely firm as most places I’ve stayed in asia, but you get use to it and it actually becomes comfortable at least to my friends and I. Staff was very good as was the hotel dining facility. I will recomend it 100%.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make sure you get a business card from the front desk to show your taxi or Tuk-Tuk driver how to get back from city center. There is a small store next door for some food items. Take plenty of crisp one dollar bills also.

Nice, newer hotel

Great service, good location (not too far from the temples, an easy tuk-tuk ride...but not in Siem Reap proper) and very friendly staff. Biggest downside for me was the bed--it was SO hard that I left Cambodia with serious back problems. But a clean hotel, with a nice breakfast buffet and a welcome drink upon arrival. Even though I arrived at the hotel around 8.30am, I was checked into and shown to my room by 9am, without an extra charge. I would stay here again, but bring something to make the bed softer!

Traveler's tip on shopping

The little souvenir shop next door to the hotel is overpriced, so try to bargain them down--their prices are higher than those in the hotel’s souvenir shop!

Newer hotel

Good location for the temples, quiet hotel, clean room, friendly staff and room had wi-fi at no additional cost. The negative was bathroom was leaking water on the floor, staff did not seem to notice? Breakfast buffet was okay, not much variation; This was the only restaurant, menu not big but okay, better food selection in Ankor City...overall experience was good.

Great Hotel

Not only did I get a great rate for this hotel the hotel room was great. Clean, updated, big bathroom. Hotel restaurant had great food and service. Other staff members were also very nice. Would recommend it to anyone who is visiting.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Hotel can arrange a guide ($20) and driver ($30) for the day to take you to Angkor Wat Temples. Private Tuk-Tuk drivers outside the hotel to take you around for the day too ($10-$20/day), good way to go to the market and do some shopping.

Decent hotel

The hotel was on the road to Angkor Wat, just a tuk-tuk ride away from the main tourist area where many restaurants were located. Clean rooms, but no queen or king size beds. They put two full beds together to make up a king bed.

Best Hotel on our SE Asia trip

Picked this off TripAdvisor, but was wary of possible "astroturfing" since there were so many positive reviews. Bottom line - they are all well deserved. Impeccable service, spotless and beautiful facilities, incredible buffet breakfast. Just first class. And the pool after a hard day of templing was delicious. The ONLY neg is the in-room wi-fi isn’t free (lobby is), but even there the rate for that is reasonable.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Angkor National Museum is a five minute walk away, and is definitely worth the visit for better insight on the temples. Khmer Kitchen in town has great food. The free Sat Nite concert at the Childrens Hospital with Dr. Richner put a lot of things in perspective.

Extremely impressed - would recommend this hotel

Everything was just great, the room, the service, the food. We really enjoyed our stay here. There were beautiful flower arrangements in the rooms and common areas and the food was also beautifully presented. Buffet breakfast was great with lots of choice. Also location was great, short ride to airport and town. Staff were extremely courteous and helpful.

Traveler's tip on shopping

The night market in Siem Reap was great for gifts, souvenirs, art crafts, housewares etc.

would like to come back any time

We stayed for 4 days and almost changed our plan to stay longer. It is a 4 star hotel with 5 star service. Even food are reasonable priced and taste great. Definitely a keeper. We have recommend it other friends and would like to come back soon.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Do borrow their mountain bicycles and ride to the temples. It is not as far as you may have imagined. We really enjoyed it.

Pleasant place to stay

One of many new hotels in Siem Reap. Certainly not the fanciest, but a very reasonable choice.

A winner

This is a new hotel which offers excellent value for money. It is on the main road to the temple complex, which is very helpful. The staff is very helpful, and the facilities are new; pool and fitness room are both above average. My only quibble is that because the hotel is new, many of the staff are trainees and their English is generally not fluent. You should be sure that you are being understood correctly.

Sublime Angkor stay

Great hotel, great staff & service, great location. This hotel has it all. We had a 3 night stay and loved our time over Christmas. Breakfast is a delight with such choice and quality. Very easy to recommend! Easy to get to central Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor. We would like to return

Traveler's tip on local attractions

So many fabulous temples to see but don’t miss out on Tonle Sap lake trip to the floating Vietnamese village on it and the orphans floating school. That was a great half day trip to see how people live locally

Tara Angkor Resort Hotel Review

I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. The price was terrific and the service was excellent. I especially liked the buffet, which had a good selection of foods, including Western and Asian options. The rooms were spartan but nice. There is a very nice pool area and a gym for people who need to workout. The hotel is close to town and the temples.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

If you want to be closer to the nightlife, pick another hotel. The bars and restaurants aren’t within walking distance but are a short ten-minute ride by taxi. The Angkor Museum is within walking distance and is worth seeing. Unfortunately, very few visitors go there since it is considered pricy at $12 admission.

Overpriced for what you get

In a small, enchanting town, this hotel was big and full of tour groups and cost over twice the going rate elsewhere. The hotel car from the bus station or airport is an astounding $15 when a cab or tuk-tuk is $3. It was not quaint, room service consistently misunderstood the orders, the bathroom was small, and the room was a smoking room when we had requested nonsmoking. Its marketing as a luxury hotel is misleading, both as a facility and for service.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Stay at one of the smaller hotels, or guest house. Or if you want a nice hotel, stay at a true luxury hotel, where you’ll pay the same price as the Tara for a clearly superior stay. Location is close to temple area, which isn’t that much of a plus because you will need transportation to the temples anyway. Located a distance from the main restaurant area so be prepared to get transportation there too. The town is so small no place is really inconvenient, though.

good value for the money

The Tara Hotel is only one year old, very clean and spacious, comfortable rooms, and good service. They organized a half day tour with guide and car/driver, and it was excellent. The food could use some improvement.
