Very good deal for a convenient price
If you want to visit Fiji and are on a budget, definitely this is a good option. Just dont forget this is not a 5-star hotel and you will be very satisfied. Friendly staff (especially the guy in charge of the outdoor activities), clean room (I stayed in the Pirates Dorm), handy airport shuttle, though the complimentary breakfast could be better. Overall a very good budget hotel.

A nice place to regroup after a long flight, for a reasonable price.
Smugglers Cove was a nice spot to stay for a couple of nights to regroup from our long flight from Hawaii. Its a basic hotel, mostly set-up for backpackers. But the rooms were nice...small, but cozy. Our room was advertised as an ocean-view room. It was if you stuck your head out the window, and looked sideways. But the staff and the overall cleanliness made-up for it. Water pressure can be spotty, however, but not the hotels fault. Nadi is having infrastructure problems, and sometimes theres no water. My favorite thing about the hotel was walking downstairs to the lobby in the morning, and having a light buffet breakfast, all you could eat, included in your room price. You take your breakfast and sit out on the beach. Very nice. I would not recommend this hotel as a destination, as its not an area to walk out of "the compound" at night, nor is the water really clear, as its near the mouth of the river, and silt clouds it. But if youre looking for decent overnight accommodation, this is a good choice. The kayaking is free, also. Taxis are easy to get. Good nighttime security...they lock you into the compound during the late hours, keeping the rif-raf out.
Traveler's tip on dining
Good, cheap Indian curries at Maharaja. Best place to eat-out for a nice meal is "First Landing" resort, a 20-minute taxi ride away. Superb dining. Prince Charles dines there when on the Island.
