Creepy

I’m not sure how old this place is but it looks like it has seen better days...maybe in the ’70’s. Old furnature, old linnens, old lobby, old elevator.

Not the best place to stay in Cleveland, look some where else.

This is not a very well run Hotel. The staff is not open to questions and will not disclose information until confronted with a very direct question. First Hotel never disclosed that all the rooms stil on top of either a Subway or Pizza joint. With this being the case all the rooms on the second and possibly the third floor smell like subway or pizza (all rooms have windows that can be opend for venting but this just intensifies the smell. Upon confronting the staff they acknowledge this. With this being the case we requested another room and were give a room as far way for that side of the building where it didn’t smell as much. But this room wassn’t any better. The issue with this room was that it hadn’t been cleaned in a while, and I mean a while. It was excessively dust in the room to the point we cpould breath and had to shut down the AC. Luckly thing we weren’t asmatic, but we did find it hard to breath. Also the room was excessively load at night since the staff and other guest would sit in the area right outside the room and talk and smoke. In addition room service never cleaned the room while we were there. What they did was run a bait and switch asking if we needed towels and then having us sign off on the room so they wouldn’t have to clean it. Not a very nice thing to do. I would very much not recommend this hotel to anyone. Only saving grace was the parking attendent who were both friendly and informative.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Within walking distance to PRogressive field, Rock and Roll HAll of Fame, etc Stay some where else, nicer Hotels closer

Not sure how I feel

We came for 1 night to see a show in the theatre district. It was an excellent location right across the street from the Palace theatre. We got a standard room and it was very standard. 2 double beds, no extra linens...we asked for a cot and could not have one because the fire code does not allow room for a cot in a standard room. I asked for extra linens and was told I could come down to the front desk and get them. There really is not much choice if you want to eat within walking distance to the hotel, and the staff could not really tell us where we could go. If you want the very basic accomodations for a short stay then it’s ok.

It was okay

There was a really loud group of people who came the second night I was there, but I called the front desk, and immediately, security came up to check.

Pleasantly surprised

Our stay here was a very pleasant surprise. We were in town for the U.S. Figure Skating National Championships and didn’t know a lot about the area. Everyone there went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and to make us feel at home. We brought our 11 year old granddaughter with us, and being from the south where sweet, iced tea is a staple, they made sure we had ample tea for the room for her to have something to drink. Their shuttle was a lifesaver and the lady who ran it was wonderful. Just because the hotel is an older building did not mean we gave up anything. The rooms were nice and comfortable and the only minor thing that went wrong, they fixed immediately. We’ve stayed in lots of other, much higher priced places, but never had any better stay. If we are ever in Cleveland again I am quite sure this will be our choice to stay.

Pick another Hotel

We visited Cleveland for a Browns came as thought that the hotel was within walking distance. It was not. We had to drive or take a cab to all the attractions we vistited, i.e. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Warehouse District, Stadium, etc. The hotel was very old. The rooms and bedding were not comfortable. The breakfast was not worth it. The ice machine wouldn’t work and had a sign to go to the front desk for ice, when we did the staff gave us a very small bag of ice and wasn’t happy to do that. The staff was not friendly or helpful. There were no resturants around the hotel if you wanted to grab breakfast or lunch, you had to drive. I WOULD NOT recommend this hotel.

Very good experience - would recommend

I stayed there fro 5 nights. On my way to Cleveland I blew out my knee on the airplane - the staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful through it all. Room was fine, great breakfast - in general, quite a good deal for a no frills place to stay. Convenient location near theater district and central square.

Very nice accommodations

The room was extremely quiet, the "continental" breakfast was substantial, everything was fine. And all for a very good price.

Affordable and convenient

This hotel is great. The rooms are clean and quiet, daily parking fee is very reasonable, and the Indians stadium is within easy walking distance. Enjoyed the stay and recommend highly.

Great Place to See a Browns Game

Very convenient. Right by the Theater district and close to many restaurants. Walking distance to the Browns stadium.

Would not recommend on football weekends when the Browns are at home. Hotel is mainly out of towners for the game and looking to party.

Economical, Hotel Staff Outstanding, Hotel Aging

Economical older hotel close to downtown and museums. SStaff is very friendly and outgoing to accomodate. However, the building and equipment are aging. Small but adequate room. TV set did not work properly and could not get NBC. Ice machines on at least two floors did not work. Took 30 minutes coaching over the telephone to get internet working. It is an adequate hotel and well worth the price. However, Comfort Inns needs to invest a little money to update and renew equipment and facilities.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you have an automobile, you can drive to almost any attraction in Cleveland because parking in downtown Cleveland and at attractions only costs $6-$10 all day. (Overnight is extra). Probably less than public transportation for a family.

Close to Playhouse Square

This hotel is a bit of a walk from Public Square but very close to CSU and Playhouse Square. The front desk staff are very helpful and polite. The breakfast isn’t bad and the price is right (free). The rooms were comfortable and reasonably clean. The whole hotel is non-smoking which is a real plus for cleanliness. They gave me bottled water when I checked in which was nice. There is a Subway sandwich shop connected to the building and there is a pizza place just downstairs. This is a good place to stay if you want a budget room downtown.

Traveler's tip on dining

The Italian restaurant just two blocks away is very good. It’s right across the street from Playhouse Square. They make a really good pizza and they offer outdoor seating in the summertime.

Excellent choice

The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is centrally located, 5 minutes walking distance to Progressive Field. Our room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little on the small size but very servicable. We enjoyed our stay

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Very near Progressive Field and Quicken Arena

satisfied customer

Enjoyed 2 night stay at Downtown Cleveland Comfort Inn, was satisfied with quality of these accommendations. Only dissatisfaction was that street was closed due to construction and had trouble getting to hotel. (not hotels fault)

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Short walk to sporting attractions and nightlife. Didn’t mind longer walk to waterfront, transportation reccomended.

Great location, very friendly and helpful staff

The hotel is located in the theatre district of Cleveland and is within walking distance of the baseball park and basketball arena. We felt very safe walking around after the game. The hotel staff, including parking attendants were very helpful with directions or anything else. Typical continental breakfast - better selection if you get up early. Standard rooms, clean and well equpped - except no in-room bar fridge.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Definitely saved money by booking through Expedia. If you don’t want to walk, the transit system is handy to the hotel for a lot of the tourist attrections.

Good value

Not the fanciest or the biggest room, but it was a decent value for a downtown hotel. Ran into a few homeless people looking for handouts when walking around late, but no problems this time. Free breakfast was ok, but crowded. Staff was very nice.

Hotel near bus station

Need I say more? This hotel was the only thing available downtown at the time I reserved a room so I was desperate. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a clean hotel. My room was filthy, no bedroom door, opening in the wall with a shower curtain on it overlooking into the living room. Very wierd set up. The staff was nice and that is the only saving grace here. The bed was comfy but I was concerned about the cleanliness the entire time.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

be very cautious about this location. this would be the last hotel in the world I would stay at again.
