Wonderful Hotel!

Can’t beat the location for quick access to Magic Kingdom & Epcot and bus transportation is easily accessible to Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney and all water parks. No need to rent a car if you just need transporation to these parks. Dinner is great at Downtown Disney, so save money & don’t rent a car.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Instead of getting on the monorail at the front entrance, if you walk to the right of the resort and ride the monorail at the Transportation Center, you will save yourself much time and a transfer. The Transportation Center will get you quickly to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot without any transfers.

We will definately go back to the Polynesian

Great hotel and good location for transportation to all the parks. Excellent pool and water slide for the children. Perfect location for viewing the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Unfortunately we were not being able to get reservations at the dinner show or other restaurants of our choice. Make sure you book 90 days in advance to avoid dissapointment.

Disney’s Finest.

Beautiful Hotel. Felt like I was in Hawaii, from the minute I pulled up, to the time I left. My only complaint was the restaurants. All eat-in restaurants were extremely crowded and to make a reservation was nearly impossible if you wanted to eat before 9pm. The only thing available right away was pizza and chicken nuggets from Capt Cook. My family and I ended up going to another hotel to eat dinner.

well worth it after a long wait!!

I have been waiting to return to this hotel for a very long time and was glad we chose it for our trip this past July. Everyone was extremely helpful and courteous, from the front desk staff, to housekeeping, to several of the valets. The property is immaculate, and even though there are other hotels with the monorail, this one has a nice balance of being upscale and fun because of the theme throughout. Can’t wait to go back!

Traveler's tip

While on the monorail, myself and others notices how filthy the inside of the Contemporary is from the entranceway where the monorail enters, to the carpeting where you step off the monorail, to the area where the windows overlook the 7 Seas Lagoon( you can see this while waiting for the train to leave). Some say this was due to the building of the Bay Lake Tower, but regardless, this was not what I would expect from a deluxe hotel, and I was extremely happy that I booked the Polynesian instead.

Once is enough

The hotel was nice but way too busy. It reminded me of a busy shopping mall. The resturants were always busy. One of the hotel resturants was so busy we could not get in to eat any of our 6 nights. We had to catch a Disney bus to go to other areas to eat. This was very time consuming.

The ideal Disney Hotel

The Polnesian was ideal for my family of 5. It hat 2 very comfortable queen size beds and a day bed. Normally with 5 people you either have to get a roll away bed which takes up too much room or 3 have to sleep in a bed. but with the day bed built into the room, it left plenty of area to move around. My one compliant is that Disney should give free wi-fi instead of $9.95 per day for wired internet service.

A wonderful resort!

Disney’s Polynesian Resort is a wonderful resort. The room was very large and comfortable. The decorations were beautiful - a true Polynesian theme. The service was top notch. Getting to the Disney parks was easy. We road the boat to and from the Magic Kingdom. It was fun and relaxing. The Aloha Luau was fabulous! What a show! Next time, we will plan an extra day to just hang out at the pool and beach at the Polynesian. Those were fun spots. This was a great Disney experience. We will certainly stay at the Polynesian again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Had to take a taxi to attractions outside of Disney. That was a little expensive but we did learn that you can negotiate with the taxi drivers (thanks to my son). We went to Universal for a day. It was fun but if you are interested in coaster rides, Universal isn’t my number one choice. It’s a nice park but I didn’t think it was worth the money. I would rather spend a day at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. They’ve got some fun rides at a reasonable price.

Perfect Disney Resort for a Family of Five

We love Disney already and have stayed at two other resorts. But with our children getting larger, and many of the resorts equipped to handle only a family of four or less, our choices were limited. The Polynesian houses five comfortably, plus is so conveniently located on the monorail lines (getting to and from Magic Kingdom and Epcot were very quick). If and when we go to Disney World again, we will stay only at the Polynesian.

We stayed for seven nights and eight days, which allowed us to go at a much more leisurely pace. By the final day we had actually done every single thing we wanted to do. In other words, if you go to Disney, stay at least seven days.

Great Family Resort

My family and I really enjoyed staying at the Polynesian. It was convenient to get to the parks, especially Magic Kingdom. I also recommend the Spirit of Aloha dinner show. What an enjoyable performance.

Typical Disney

This was a great place for my kids and me to stay while I was in Orlando on business. They hung out in the various Disney parks while I was away for work during the day. The one complaint I have is that internet access is available, but not for free. Guests must pay an additional $10 per day in order to access the internet. Since you have to pay a premium rate to stay in this hotel, Disney should not nickel-and-dime you to death for internet access.

Will Only Stay Here

We loved all of the room in the Polynesian. My son was greatful for the pull out couch, so he could have his own bed. The only thing we wanted was more affordable places to eat. We got tired of the quick service place, but did not want to always pay $25.00 a person to eat at the other restaurants. The Polynesian need a good diner with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service at a reasonable price.

Go to the parks early. Take a mid day break and go back rested, and ready to deal with the crowds.

Beautiful Scenary!

We loved the hotel. Our room was very clean, we had a great view of the lake. The landscaping was beautiful. The only suggestion I would have is more food venues. Captain cooks food choices were limited and although did cater to childrens choices, it was always very crowded. It is to small to handle the number of families with children. The other two restaurants are hard to get into without reservations and really dont have the type of food that the children eat.

Buy the disney mugs so you can continuously refill your drinks. They are really worth it.

Great hotel, horrible service

I would never stay at this hotel again, I would pick another Disney Resort instead. The Concierge was huge JOKE. They really need to look up the meaning of Concierge. The hotel could not accommodate my small family (myself, husband and 5 year old) for breakfast or dinner at one of their onsite restaurants a single day of our stay, not even on my birthday! We had to get room service every time. They made absolutely no effor to squeeze us in at any point in time and acted as if we were priveleged to be in their presence. That is not how hotels in Chicago treat you. The resort was beautifully decorated and the employees on the ground were very friendly, but when you got to the front desk, they were a bunch of snobs who had no idea that their role should consist of more than just handing our keycards. They should fire them all and start all over!

Traveler's tip on dining

Make reservations for every single meal during you stay (if you’d like to eat) 90 days in advance. I’m not joking.

excellent choice

beautiful hotel, surrounded by trees, it looks like you are indeed in Polynesia. Perfect location because with the monorail one can easily access the Parks. The only bad thing is the food. I am Italian and I found food in this hotel and all over Disney’s Parks and resort absolutely disgusting. Too much fast food, very difficult to find fresh food and vegetables. Parents give their children and babies Coca Cola.. I have never seen anything like that! But I had a lot of fun, and I would definitely go back.. (maybe bringing food from home)

Extraordinary experience

The view from our room was awesome. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Polynesian to all.

Traveler's tip on dining

The Luau dinner and show were excellent so don’t forget to make your reservations far in advance.

Would go back anytime.

Had a great time with my grandchildren. Convenient pools and snack store for them. Fireworks from balcony, spectacular. Convenience of monorail, ferry and shuttles was a definite asset.

Captain Cook’s was a plus for snacks and quick breakfasts, especially if you have children with you.

great getaway

I recently stayed at the Polynesian with my 9yr. old daughter. We had a great time. The food was good, the staff were extremely friendly,i can not think of a bad thing to say. We are already talking about a return trip! The convenience of not having to carry cash with you is a big plus, especially in the theme parks. I would definitely recommend the Polynesian!

Great Convenient Family Location for Magic Kingdom and Epcot

This hotel largely focused on family, especially great for children with Volcano Pool, alternate pool and beach. You feel you’re in a relaxed Polynesia setting. It is great to have monorail and boat direct transportation to Disney parks. A great escape with exceptional tropical landscaping and festive Polynesian background music. If you don’t have children you would likely want a resort with ammenities geared more for adults. Our children made friends with guests from Europe on holiday. It was a very friendly environment. The guests shared in the fun without any aloof appearences. Captain Cook’s convenience dining was very efficient with kiosk ordering and remote signal indicators enabling a great way to avoid waiting in line before the food serving areas. Regarding booking with Expedia. It was smooth and flawless from airports to hotel. The Polynesian provides luggage handing and prepares your boarding passes on your return for added convenience, when you use the Disney Magical Express Airport Service.

Traveler's tip on dining

We booked later for April and found dining access limited. There are many resorts on Disney World Campus, one can sample dining at the many neighboring resorts as well as Ohana the Polynesian’s main feature dining in addition to the Luau. We observed some people arranging dining reservations while there in April for the month of June at some of the favorite eateries. Again, dining reservations far in advance is reccommended.
