Good location, friendly staff, etc...
Just returned from recent trip to Dominica, stayed at the Ft. Young Hotel--excellent from the start--upgraded to ocean front room, very comfortable room with king bed, refridgerater, and like I said ocean front terrace. 5 minutes walking distance to town, several good restaurants--dont miss Pearls, Cornerside Cafe, and New Century Chinese. Even the food at the Balas Bar in the hotel was good. Pool with water fall very nice, but a little cool for late afternoon and evening swimming. Dive center great, pick you up at the private boat dock in front of hotel. Three cruise ships came in during our stay, make town seem busy but not bad. Dont miss the managers reception on Mondays--watch out for the strong (very strong) rum punches--and make sure that you can attend the Friday night Happy Hour/BBQ--good ribs and live band. My wife and I had a great stay at this hotel.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Dive Dominica great dive company to use--divemasters Stinger and Kevin are great as is boat captain Marcus. Nice boat with bathroom. Easy to get on and off boat--great dive sites in the Scotts Head area--lots to see. Driving the island can be a little challanging, there are no posted speed limits and very few road signs--but it is really hard to get lost. There is also allot of road construction. Hiking to waterfalls also very good.

Not impressed
Hotel is in a nice location. The room is clean and pretty confortable. Doors are pretty old and there are no windows in the room but only the exterior shutters. During the night there is a little frog which is "singing" and as there are so many around, they make a so noise that I could not sleep. It happened the same in Martinique but here the hotel had windows and I could not hear any noise from outside.

Omars day
While we stayed at Forth young Omar passed on Dominica. People really smiling and welcoming. Except at the desk front of the hotel. We had a great time anyway. Exceptwe had to move for another room due to air conditionner matter. And the room we had wasnt the same as we had noisy, just next door to the street and a small bed.

Friendly Fort Young
The people of the Fort Young Hotel are so hospitable, friendly and warm. This definitely helped our stay in the island of Dominica. I really recommend this hotel for location, service and cleanliness.

Best place to stay in Dominica
The ocean view room was spacious with a large bathroom. The hotel is within walking distance to Roseau. You can hear the waves crashing outside your room along with the sounds of many tropical birds. The Waterfront Restaurant had excellent food with a great view. The rooms have both fans and AC but on a very hot day, the room did not cool down very well.

Nicest Hotel in Dominica With Very Convenient Location
This hotel, whereas it is not a 5-star, is very nice for Dominica standards. It is the most conveniently located upscale hotel on the island. It is on the water. Plus it is walking distance to the business and government district. Highly recommended if you are going to Dominica for business or pleasure. It was my second stay at this hotel. Dominica has a rocky coastline and few sandy beaches. People are friendly and food is good. You will see many Europeans visiting this hotel.
Traveler's tip on dining
Eat in the hotel. The food is good and the service is friendly. If you are coming for business...there is no other decent place to state but Ft. Young.

A hotel of champions
This hotel examplifies the term "Service with a smile". During my stay there with my family during Hurricane Dean, the staff not only worked tirelessly during the storm and long afterwards, but service was delivered with such a pleasent smile, that one could almost ignore the howling wind, pounding waves and pelting rain. The hotel did get some leaks, however the staff was all over that. Their dedication was magnified when many guest from a neighbouring hotel stated that they were abandoned by most of the staff right before, during and immediately after the storm. Fort Young Hotel gets an A++

Pleasant experience
Although not a tourism specific destination, you are afforded all of the niceties you get from tourism specific destinations. Staff at all levels are pleasant and helpful, and always have apleasing facial expression.

very clean and comfortable
fort young is a great hotel and was clean and comfortable. the only complaint i had was that they wouldnt let me use the free wireless in the lobby the moment i checked out. it was like they didnt care as soon as my money was paid, even though i was waiting for a ride at the lobby desk after checking out. but overall it was very nice and the breakfast was cheap and the room was super-clean (although we had a deluxe ocean-view).
Traveler's tip on dining
go across the street to la robe creole for cheaper dinner.

Great view and location to the town
Fort Young Hotel was great for us! My husband and I spent our 5 year anniversary trip (which is also New Years Eve) there and we loved every minute of it. The hotel had fun events and all the people at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The activities desk also did a great job booking fun activities.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Remember, you are on a Caribbean island...that means relax and dont expect everything to happen quickly. If you need something, just make sure to ask for it in advance.
