Bad Breakfast
The reason for the low overall satisfaction rating of this hotel was the totally inadequate "continental" breakfast, that was all that was available. My wife wanted tea, not coffee -- there was none to be found (and no hot water.) There was no fruit; the breads and pastries were minimal. The whole thing gave the impression that nobody cared. It’s a nice location, and a nice facility (yes, the bedrooms are a little sparse, but nicely laid out), but they need to do much better with breakfast for the prices they are charging.

Affordable luxury
Our recent stay over the July fourth weekend was exceptional. The Esmeralda hotel had just opened their restaurant and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The rooms were spacious and clean with luxury bedding. There are Bose radios in each room and new lcd televisions with directtv. The toiletries are premium as well. We were greeted kindly by all employees and were trated like we were the only guests there. We arrived a little early and were allowed to check in and get our rooms since our particular room had already been cleaned. We travel each year at least twice and always try to stay in three and one half star or above hotels and this stay was as good as any I have ever been a guest in. Would tell anyone to book your stay here if you want affordable luxury with a wonderful staff to serve your every need.
Be sure to visit the Brevard an Hendersonville area at Dupont state park to see the waterfalls. Visit Chimnet Rock and be sure to enjoy the beach at Lake Lure.
