Worth the walk
The Hotel Foresteria was wonderful! Our room was huge and made you feel you were in a romantic italian spot( Which it is!). It has windows and patio doors covered in light curtains that flutter in the breeze and we looked over a farm to one side and the valley below if we looked further down the hotel. It was very quiet, you could hear the rooster and gaots in the distance. We only had breakfast in the dinning room and it was good. A nearby churchs bells chimed an Sunday. We walked up to the city of Volterra every day and the walk from the main road to the hotel was very quiet and peaceful. The only down side was that the beds and pillows were very hard, I would recomend bringing your own pillows. Wi-fi would be a bonus. We hope to come back again and stay longer, we didnt want to leave!
Traveler's tip
Bring your own pillows. It is easy to miss the turn off to the hotel, turn at COOP and keep going down a long raod past the old church.

Nice hotel. The young woman working the reception desk was extremely helpful. Even though there was a language barrier, she tried very hard to help the wandering tourists. She even called around late at night and found a restaurant owner, a friend of hers, that would stay open and feed us at 11PM. Problems: No air conditioning. A hot day and no way to cool down. Mattresses were very firm. The signage and directions to the hotel were practically non-existant. You have to drive down a narrow one lane alley, around some corners and be looking very carefully for the sign or you will miss it.
