After reading some "not too positive" reviews about the Plaza, I decided to try it and stay there anyhow. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. The front desk staff were cheerful and helpful, but the ROOM was the big surprise. While other reviewers complained about the rooms being dingy and/or dirty, I must say our room was immaculate. It was a very spacious room in the tower on the 17th floor with 2 queen beds. Also it had a view of the strip. I like downtown so the location of the Plaza was ideal for me, within easy walking too all of the casinos downtown. The only downside to the trip was that one of the valets had a minor accident with the rental car. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he tried to hide the damage by not reporting it. Fortunately for me, when the valets park your car they note any existing damage and, since the new damage hadn’t been marked, the Plaza knew they had caused it. They took full responsibility for it, however, and this was the only damper on an otherwise very pleasant stay. I would stay there again. Just double check your car is you use valet parking.

You’re only renting a pillow

This is my 2nd stay at the Plaza and I’ll stay again. I only use the room for sleeping and it fills the bill. The hotel has a decent breakfast buffet, less than 8 bucks. Plus, there are several other dining options within a few blocks. This area has increased entertainment and other attractions to bring people from the strip. Local bus service, including the Deuce, makes it easy to get around. A transit bus from the airport costs about 8 dollars (if you purchase round trip ticket) and takes about 30-45 minutes. The local bus costs about seven dollars for a 24 hour pass and it takes about 45 minutes from the airport to hotel, and you get to see a lot of local parts of Vegas you don’t otherwise see. Bus passes are for a 24-hour period from the time you buy. You can use it for both city buses and the Deuce. A great value!

Best buffet is the Paradise (downtown). Nights are themed so you may want to watch the menu carefully. Breakfasts are always good and lowest prices I’ve seen. Sahara also has good buffet, but read the promo carefully. Advertised price is only for ’Club’ members. Still a good bargain at reg. price.
