Evacuated at 3am
The hotel was lovely and clearly very cautious as I and fellow travellers on two different floors were evacuated at about 3am and assigned different rooms. Most inconvenient, especially when it was attributed to a leaking bar fridge in one room! The staff did not communicate this clearly nor apologise for the inconvenience at the time, but the two rooms I was allocated (within my 10 hour stay at the hotel) were lovely, neat and comfortable. I cant imagine other travellers will be evacuated, so recommend it!
Traveler's tip for business travelers
Go to bed in your clothes in case you get evacuated at 3am!

Very nice
We were in Wellington for only one night on our way from Tongariro to Greymouth. We arrived late in the afternoon without a plan for dinner, and the concierge very helpfully suggested a convenient (and excellent) seafood restaurant nearby. The accomdations were very comfortable and clean. (The closet was a bit inconvenient.) If we return to Wellington, we are likely to stay here again.

Happy and satisfied
Overall very satisfactory; probably one of the better hotels in the central business district of Wellington. Being very close to the harbour front (for fantastic walks and views), visitor attractions (Te Pepe museum & botanical gardens) and shopping, the location is ideal. Hotel is showing some signs of age, as seen by the design of the room and building in general; however service was generally professional and the room was well appointed, roomy and clean.
Traveler's tip on dining
Pass on the hotel breakfast (unless you want typical plain oily buffet food); instead go for one of the many cafes that are located around the hotel...cheaper and tastier! Also go and visit Cuba Street and get a feel of the casual local lifestyle, its got a great vibe to it.
