Great Location across the Thames from Parliament

Great location to many tourist attractions. Attentive staff and good overall condition of hotel made our stay in London even better. "Executive Lounge" access was a plus for wary travelers after an exhausting sightseeing day, and also offered an acceptable breakfast. Many rooms have views to Big Ben, and waking up to its chimes was an experience not many other hotels (any?) could offer.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Definitely go for the "Executive Lounge" access and Parliament views --the extra cost is worth it. Fitness-conscious travelers could also take advantage of a 25-meter indoor swimming pool in addition to the well-stocked gym (and spa services)

good location

Staff - excellent Prices - quite high (13 pounds for cheeseburger! But VERY good! But there’s a McDonalds and other places in the lower level)

Traveler's tip on dining

Out the back door and there are several places w/takeout.

Perfect location!

We had tea in the dining room overlooking the Thames and Big Ben. The London Eye is just outside the front door. A tube station is across the river. We walked to Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and Covent Gardens. The hotel itself has big rooms and a gorgeous pool for kids. I will stay there again when I go back to London!

Location is the best reason to stay here

Great location.Very busy tourist location during the day due to the view and the London Eye. We were in a suite with two teens. Very comfortable...amazing views!!! Only down sides...Concierge(several during our stay were weak), Executive breakfast room outdated and unimpressive selection. Restaurant not good and expensive.

Take "London Walks"...amazing,educational and cheap!!!!

Very Impressed

The Marriott London County Hall hotel was a very impressive hotel with a fabulous location. I only stayed for 1 night here so I needed a location that was central to most sights in London and this one was perfect. You are within walking distance to the London Eye, London Aquarium as well as Big Ben Parliment and Buckingham Palace. There is also a river tours as well to see the Tower of London and the London Bridge. The room was a little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. I ordered the deluxe river view room and it was perfect. Right out our room window as Big Ben and Parliment. The staff was very helpful and treated my son and I with respect. We needed to check out the next morning but was going to spend most of the day walking around so I asked if we could keep our luggage with them and they more more than happy to accomodate. The room itself was comfortable (not what I would consider it large) and the bathroom was well appointed. There was a well stocked bar under the TV however be careful when viewing as you can be charged for any item you remove and don’t return to the bar quickly. I did not have any problems with this though and confirmed at check out. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you have the means. Beautiful building as well.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Use Waterloo train station...all major connections using the tube. Try the Lobster Pot in Kennington! Great food...but also a little pricey. Make a reservation and take the tube to Kennington. It’s only a short walk to the restuarant from the station. If your going to the Tower of London, be sure to get there early, the lines are long.

The Marriott London was smashing in every way!

The Marriott London County Hall was truely what it seems to be over the internet. I was truely impressed in every way. The staff was very help- ful and happy to help. The hotel was beautiful to eyes as well to the soul. We ordered room service everyday we were there, and the food was incredible. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you for a dream come true!

Nice hotel

It was a nice secluded retreat from a very crowded London! Very central location for tourists and a key drop off/pick up for tour companies and hop on/off buses, so proved to be very convenient!

Sneaky charging

Location was great however for such a large hotel there was only one way to get in and considering its location, at times it took a while to navigate through the crowds to enter. The worst thing about the hotel was that they had charges that you were not informed about upon check in. Like every time you OPENED the refrigerator you are charged. If you pick something up from the fridge and place it back you are charged. RIDICULOUS!!! They also did not empty our garbage in the bath room to the point where I ended up dumping it on the floor for them to clean it up. On our second day there upon returning to our room the bed had been made however it looked like someone had been sitting/laying one it. No one told me that I would be apart of the three bears story. Last but not least taking a shower felt much like what I think getting hit with a fire hose. The shower head was covered in hard water stains and was a painful experience every day. Does not deserve the 5 Star rating. At best a 3 1/2 star.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Up close and personal for the river Thames and the London Eye. Close to several tube stations.

The perfect location

We enjoyed staying at this beautiful hotel. The best part was the location. You can easily stay here an not have to rent a car. We were able to walk to many famous sights and there are lots of restaurants and coffee shops close by. It was also very easy to get to on the Underground from the airport. The rooms were clean and the concierge was super friendly. The only thing I didn’t like is that they charge you for local calls!

Roomy & convenient

The hotel was a nice surprise in that we were prepared for smaller than usual rooms in London. However, this hotel is very similar to Marriotts in the US in room size & amenities. One note, instead of a coffee maker, there is a kettle to heat water for tea or instant coffee. Tea in the mornings became a delightful routine. We spent little time in our room as we were taking in the sights & plays. The hotel is very convenient to several tube stations. You pass Big Ben everytime you walk across Westminster Bridge, and the London Eye was just outside our room window, as was the River Thames.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

From this hotel, we walked to Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden, Leicester Square etc. Leicester Square’s TKT kiosk has 50% off play tickets. The Big Bus Company tour with the real person guide was excellent, even for teenage boys.

Great choice for our family

We just went to London with our children (ages 6 and 10). The hotel was great! Perfect location for getting around to everything and very convenient to Waterloo and Westminster stations. Walking distance to most major sights and many restaurants. We had access to the executive lounge for continental breakfast (as well as all day snacks and drinks) - highly recommend! We never went to the restaurant, but room sevice was fairly good. The room was spacious and very quiet. We would definitely go back to this hotel again.

Good Hotel; Good Location

Overall, a very good hotel experience at the Marriott London County Hall, but with some caveats. This is an enormous hotel covering whole city blocks, and our room was quite a long hike from the elevators. The hotel failed to honor our request for a room with two beds and never followed through on our request for a portable bed, but otherwise the room was fine. The hotel is convenient to the Underground at both Waterloo and Westminster stations, but taxi service at the hotel is a challenge, since the hotel reception is tucked away in a courtyard; if you need a taxi, be sure to make arrangements ahead of time with the concierge.

Beautiful view, excellent location, true bargain

I stayed at the Marriott County Hall in mid March for three days. I expected the hotel to be top notch from the recommendation I had seen online, but everything about the hotel exceeded my expectations. First of all for the room was very large and luxurious by London hotel standards(London hotel room are notoriously small). From my window I could see Parliment (Big Ben) and White Hall from across the River Thames. The view at night is spectaculor. I travel about 20 week a year and am seldom impressed by hotels but the Marriott Town Hall will remain high on my list of favorite hotels. Of course receiving three nights stay for the price of two helped.

Perfect location for sightseeing

Great location for families to stay as it is close to the bus and tube routes as well as fabulous sights in easy walking distance, like Big Ben, the London Eye and Horse Guards. Lots of good places to eat at festival Hall, an easy stroll down the South Bank.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Use a travel card for the bus and tube and take the route 9 or 15 busses for sightseeing.

Would stay again

The hotel was very nice and close to everything. the doormen were very helpful and kind. We took the redeye over to London on Christmas eve and got to the hotel at 9:00Am. They were very accomadating and got us a room right away eventhough we were not suppose to check in until 3:00PM. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location; very comfortable

Wonderful beds. Wonderful breakfasts. Perfect location for getting around tourist London.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you don’t want to take the tube to Heathrow, it is cheaper to arrange a car service than to take a London cab. However, the hotel next door will give you a number to call their car service which is much cheaper than the one Marriott uses.

BEST LOCATION IN LONDON!!!!!

My husband and 2 girls, 14 & 10, traveled to London for their first time this past March 2008. The Marriott County Hall exceeded all our expectations: beautiful historic building, large spacious rooms, friendly and knowledgeable staff, amazing views of Big Ben and Parliament, located on the Thames river walk beside the London Eye, easy walk to Covent Garden area......the list goes on! We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends and we would definitely return!

Wonderful place to stay away from home!

We`absolutely loved the hotel. It was convenient to the tube and bus transportation. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were quite helpful. Our requests before the trip were all made. We also asked for a view when we arrived and they accommodated our wish. We only had a problem one morning with the fire alarm going off. They let us know quickly there was no reason to evacuate, the cause came from the kitchen. The same morning there was no hot water for showers. I do believe this was not common and all was handled professionally. We would definately return to this hotel

Probably one of London’s best

Nice big rooms by European standards, one of the few places you can get two queen beds in a room instead of twins. Service staff was great. Make sure you get breakfast included in your room price as paid separately you will pay almost $40 USD. Centrally located and easy to get around.

Traveler's tip on dining

Check out the Turkish restaurant located behind the hotel. If you are American, you will appreciate some spice in the food.
