Not Impressed

This hotel has satisfactory curb appeal and overall seems reasonably well maintained. The staff was courteous, knowlegeable and efficient and offered accurate assessments of restaurants, etc. The room itself was less than great. We had a non-smoking room but immediately on entering the hallway, the air was extremely heavily laden with cigarette smoke, and the smell of smoke permeated our room. Several doors were open dorm style with men flowing between rooms. Laborers apparently frequent this hotel because of its convenient location on the highway, easy in-out, etc. Pickup trucks were numerous in the parking lot. During our stay, there was an impromptu gathering around 2 a.m. in the parking lot outside our room that featured loud talking and laughing which finally required the hotel manager to come out and break it up. He did take care of it, however. The bed sheets in our room were clean, but ironically for a non-smoking room there was a large hole in the fitted sheet from a cigarette burn. In my opinion, a quality hotel would never allow a sheet with a hole to be laundered and put back on a bed. Overall, we were disappointed.

Good for your money

We stayed in the hotel for a week for my brother’s move-in to the university. The staff is very helpful and courteous. The room is more or less clean and convenient. They also provide a microwave and small fridge. The bathroom is VERY SMALL. The hallway is somewhat stuffy. Other than that we really enjoyed the hotel.

Nice for the money

Perfect for the price. I spent three nights at this hotel. The front desk staff were very accommodating and paid attention to the details. The room was clean and the facility adequate.

Not a destination, but a place to sleep

Bathroom--tiny! If you have something else to do with your time in Charleston, say, like, visit your favorite EIU student, this is servicable. The proximity to the campus is the biggest plus. The staff was nice and efficient during my stay.

Great value

Hotel was vey clean and service was excellent. Staff was accomating and flexible. Great value for location.

Traveler's tip

Local Ford Dealer was very accomodating when our car broke down. I would recommend them for good, fair and reasonably priced services.

Good place to sleep

The hotel has apparently been recently refurbished. It was clean and decently appointed. The microwave and refrigerator were nice additions to the room. The staff was very polite, and the continental breakfast was well-supplied. It is not fancy, but for a night’s sleep, it is quite satisfactory.
