A good reasonable hotel in a good location

The K & K Opera in Budapest is a perfect location if you don’t want to surrounded by tourists day and night. It’s proximity to the Opera and Andrassy St is a real plus. We walked every where from it, including up to the castle on the other side of the river. The staff were very helpful in arranging concerts, dinners etc. I would definitely stay there again.

A welcome relief

The staff was great. The rooms are large with clean lines and a great flat screen. I loved this hotel.

Can’t wait to go back

We loved our stay at the K&K. the people were very friendly, the room was great, and the cleanliness was outstanding. the only thing that irked me was that the windows did not open that well--- and the room was a little stuffy at times. but aside from that- the price was great and the hotel was great! The Location was great too! it was in the middle od everything- my boyfriend and I were able to walk everywhere we needed! there was restaruants right outside the door, and the Metro was not far!

Superb hotel in every way....

While this is not a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton mega-hotel (with their exhorbitant prices), it is difficult to do better than the K+K Opera Hotel in Budapest. First, for a location that is NOT right on the Danube, it is hard to imagine a better location: just off of Andrássy út and next to the Operaház. It is a few meters from the M1 metro stop. It is quiet.... Next, the quality of the building, the decor, the public spaces, the bar and lounge --- all are elegant and in outstanding condition. I will not go on and on.... Experienced travelers will find here a superb hotel at very reasonable prices... Enjoy!!!

Traveler's tip on dining

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Budapest is within steps of the K+K Opera Hotel. It is Klassz at (I believe) Andrássy út 39, just north of the Operaház. The best pork in the world is Mangalica pork, native to and unique to Hungary. Only Klassz has a Mangalica pork dish that is prepared to perfection - no other restaurant comes close... Plus, they have a superb wine list (which is what Klassz is know for, primarily)... Enjoy’

One of the best!

My wife and I found out stay at the K & K Hotel Opera wonderful. The staff were helpful and efficient, the breakfasts excellent, the a.c. very efficient, even during a heat wave in Central Europe. To quote my wife, "I love this hotel!" Excellent location; just a few steps away from the Metro, but on a quieter back street, it was easy to either go towards the Danube or the city park. If we can, we will stay there again.

Just OK

The rooms are fairly small. Budapest is expensive for such a dump (graffiti and trash). Prague is a much better value. You can stay in a 5-star for same price as this fairly average business hotel. Rooms are clean. Restaurant is good. Internet access available. Gym is pathetic, but there is a nice sauna.

Nice Location

The only problem I had beside the weird keys they had on the doors was the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had in any hotel room. The first night it didn’t matter after a night on the Town but the second night when I wanted a good nights sleep it was terrible. If the bed was just normal it would have been great as the location was fabulous and the people nice. I was there for only 3 nights so it wasn’t worth switching rooms i just bunched up the comforter underneath me and slept on it.

Good mix of location, price and quality

I have stayed at the K&K numerous times. It is next door to the Opera, which is convenient for me and a good overall location. It seems they have been upgrading their rooms as the last few times I have stayed there I have noticed they were newer. They have a nice breakfast buffet and good room prices as well as free in-room internet connections (with a cable). The bar layout is not so great (both sides of a walking corridor) and the location on a side street is a bit hidden, but otherwise it’s a very good option especially for the price.

Enjoyable business-style hotel near restaurants, entertainment

The K&K Hotel Opera seems designed for business travel and, while quiet, is friendly to tourists. It is located on a side street next to the Opera House and not far from the Basilica, and while it has no views, (unlike those down near the Danube) it is located in a part of Budapest with many restaurants, shops, and other attractions, and near an underground station. The staff was friendly and the hotel is in good shape and clean. The breakfast is multinational, with a wide selection (bacon and eggs to Miso soup). And the opera was very good. Highly recommended.

Very pleased with hotel.

We were very satisfied with the hotel. The staff was very helpful. There were opportunities to book tours from the hotel. It was a short walk from the cathedral, and the Opera House was practically across the street.

Modern hotel in excellent location right behing the opera house

A friendly, English speaking staff, a competitive money exchange rate at the front desk, and a privileged location make this hotel the choice for anyone wanting a comfortble and modern place in a central location.

Great Hotel Chain, Minor Troubles with Budapest Location

Stayed at the K&K Hotel Opera in Budapest in late April. Overall good hotel. However, had to call maid service on first night because it appeared one of the beds had not been turned over. Staff were very apologetic and promptly took care of the problem. Besides this, hotel was fine. Excellent location, helpful staff, good breakfast.

I will return to the hotel if I ever visit again.

The location is great. It’s on a quiet street right next to the Opera House. Plenty of good restaurants are close by. The only draw back is the public transportation. After a $25 fine per person, I learn that you have to get an individual ticket for each subway or bus ride.

Highly recommended!

The K&K is conveniently located close to nice restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Also, the metro stop is just across the street. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with a ’classic contemporary’ theme. The rooms, although small, are very clean and quiet. The service was exceptional, including the K&K driver who kindly offered help and information during our travels.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Great location, very good hotel

Very good hotel, right in the centre and a stone’s throw away from the opera (I’m guessing here; there were no stones to hand). Comfortable, clean, efficient reception desk, good internet access, nice breakfast.

Won’t go back

The hotel was fine... location good.... but I received a call from the restaraunt (where I had never been) at 12:30 am. Thinking this was my 4:30 am wake-up call.... I hung up and jumped in the shower. Then they banged on my door claiming i had walked out on a check. I have writen the GM to ask for an expaination and received no acknowlegement nor reply.

Great Hotel, Great Location!

This hotel is perfectly located for a visit to Budapest. Right next to the opera, on one of the underground lines and easy walking to almost all of the major sites. Rooms were very clean, staff extremely courteous and helpful and great breakfast. Strongly recommended.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The opera, right next door to the hotel, is very good and very reasonable in price.

comfortable stay

We enjoyed the stay and found the place to be comfortable and suitable for our purpose. We liked the location of the hotel and the ease of getting around. Additionally, we found the proximity to everything to be quite useful.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The metro which is practically adjacent to the hotel was very useful and convenient - also a money saver if you are senior citizen.

Great Hotel!

A very nice, clean, comfortable, etc. hotel located a block off of Andrassy utca and within 100 meters of the Opera House and subway stop. Easy walking distance to the important sights of Budapest, nightlife, etc. Have been to Budapest many times, and around the Opera House, but never knew this hotel was there! My loss. Actually, this is the first time I have stayed in a hotel in Budapest; I normally rent a flat/apartment due to cost differences. My ’virgin’ hotel experience in Budapest was a pleasant one...thankfully!!!

Strongly recommend

My teenaged son and I had a delightful three-night stay at the K&K Hotel Opera. The room was well-equipped, the staff was unfailingly courteous and helpful, and the breakfast was sumptuous. In addition, the ready accessibility of free Internet service proved useful. We considered the location excellent for our purposes; we walked to most of our destinations, but also took advantage of proximity to a metro stop to reach more distant sites. My only quibble (a common one for this part of the world) was with the somewhat feeble air conditioning during a July visit. Combined with an apparent regional aversion to top sheets, this deficiency caused occasional discomfort at night. That minor problem, though, detracted little from what was otherwise a highly enjoyable stay.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you plan to tour the magnificent Parliament building, you should arrive early in the day to obtain a ticket for an English-language tour, especially on Sunday. Tickets are sold only for same-day viewing and go fast. Given the ease of transportation around the city, it is probably even worth making a special trip to buy the ticket and returning later for the tour.

K + K Budapest

I am in Budapest four or five times a year. While no longer a bargain, the K+K still gives more for its value than any other hotel I know. Best location in town; great breakfasts.
