great value for money!

excellent location, very comfortable modern room, and friendly service. price of hotel food was a bit high but less expensive restaurants/diners were a mere 5 minute walk from the hotel. checkout efficient and was a breeze! staff very helpful. will definitely go back again.

Will Return & Good Location

This our second stay at this hotel, although we knew that the hotel was on-going with the renovations. It was a little incoveniet to go in check-in on the 5th floor with the busy elevators. The room that we stayed on this visit was in the old rooms/tower. The TV definately needs to be upgraded, its very old and small. I think the Concierge/Bell staff need to be stand by during check-out on the 5th floor to assist guest luggage more often. The Doormen team down stairs at the entrance was very helpful and great. Would stay again as it is very conveniet and hopefully, the renovations will be completed.

Constructions were on. Rooms are OK but not as you would see them in the adverts. Some similar priced hotels better. Location the best for Orchard Rd shopping though.

Best Location in Singapore

This hotel has the best location in Singapore. Shopping, Restaurants, Cinema everything is just nearby. Only problem is the massive construction for the renovation work is still going on. It can be a problem for guests with children or patients. We were lucky to have a room at the higher floors where there was no sound because the noise of the drill machine starting early in the morning can be a nuisance. The lobby has been shifted to 5th floor and therefore we had to change lift twice to reach our room at the Grand Tower. Other than these I would recommend this hotel purely based on its location.

Amidst everything in a meaty section of Orchard Road, the Meritus Mandarin sits within a few minutes’ walk to all the food and shopping one could possibly want. Combined with the busiest lobby in Singapore and construction that apparently has been a constant for months, the entrance and surroundings appear more active than a bountiful coral reef. The ececutive floor, however, provided more than enough ocean calm to compensate. The room was extremely well decorated, spacious, and boasted a sweet bathroom, and the breakfasts and happy hour spreads in the evenings were all the food most might need beyond lunch. I’ll look forward to going back after the construction ends!

because its on orchard rd. and very close to takashimaya and paragon...food courts in these malls have cheaper food than the hotels..

Excellent service and good location

The hotel is located in the heart of the shopping area (Orchard Rd). The staff was very friendly and helpful. I checked out very early in the morning, and since the breakfast was not available that early, they gave me a breakfast box for me to bring to the airport. The hotel is in the middle of renovation right now, so it was a bit complicated to get to your room.

Construction in progress - wait til it’s done

The hotel was under construction while I was staying there, so although they had the construction area was walled off, you could still hear the noises as you walked from the main lobby to the elevators. We had a small problem with the room - there is a console near the bed for controlling all the lights in the room and it has a clock on it. Unfortunately, during our stay, the clock failed, so we had to use our iPhones as travel alarms. The rooms are comfortable, and the included breakfast (and view of Singapore) at the Chatterbox restaurant is outstanding. The bathrooms were very spacious as well, with both a tub and a separate shower. The service level in the lobby area of the hotel is amazing - helpful staff EVERYWHERE you look!

Go for dim sum at the Crystal Jade Golden Palace restaurant at the top of the Paragon Mall (across the street from the hotel). The food and service are phenomenal.

The Meritus Mandarin Singapore is a really good hotel. The staff is more then friendly, the rooms are every time clean and the place from the hotel in the middle from the Orchard Road is perfect.

Best for the Money

I really think we got the best for our money when we stayed at the Meritus Mandarin Orchard in Singapore the other week. Sure there was a major renovation going on which closed the front door but for the small inconvenience of going through the back door we got a bargain for the excellent facilities and service Mandarfin hotels are known for.

Good hotel and great location......however

This is a really good hotel in a great location on Orchard Road. We got the rooms on Expedia for a good price but this was because of the renovations....in saying that I would not pay anymore for the same room that I stayed in.

Hotel undertaking extensive extentions

This hotel is undergoing extentions which means there is some noise during the day. The foyer/lobby had insufficient seating which should have been apparent to the management. There was also no bar and other facilities were limited. It is extremely convenient to Orchard Rd shopping precinct,..save your visit until the adjoining building is completed!

Has excellent staff attention but management should go further to overcome present problems which are experienced by the guests so as to make their stay more enjoyable. At present not 4Star, not 3.5 but I give it 3!

Center of Orchard Road

This hotel is right in the center of Orchard Road the main shopping thoroughfare. The MRT is a short walk(1 block). At night, a spectacle of thousands of birds gather on the trees surrounding the hotel. And disappear as quickly as they appear. Very friendly and efficient staff. The food is nice.

The sumptuous breakfast buffet is well worth the money.

Nice but a construction site

It was fine but the construction situation is ridiculous... no pool, a mall being built in the lobby, and crazy noises. If you can get it cheap, do it and take some earplugs. Other than that, it’s a nice hotel with pleasant staff.

Best Location on Orchard for me

My favourite hotel has been demolished so I faced a quandary as to where to stay on my latest trip to SIN. I have special errands to run when I have limited time on a visit there so being central is a must. Mid-Orchard Rd. is ideal but there are few reasonably-priced hotels in the area now. I was so pleased to have found the Meritus Mandarin and thought their service was impeccable. I just hope they can keep their pricing within my budget after their renovations are over.

Not as we expected

Location is excellent. This is the only thing we like about this hotel. Service or environment not impressed enough for 5 star hotel. We went to the restaurant at top floor for the famous chicken rice dish. We got lost several times by the ridicules elevator system. We’ve been told that we need to take special elevator to the top, then we need to find the way out for another elevator, then, "try our luck" to find the stair up for the restaurant. The poor thing is, the food quality is not as good as we expected. We rather spent taxi fee for the cheaper restaurant outside next time.

Great location, right smack in themiddle of Orchard Rd which is Singapore’s main shopping street.

The location is what’s best about this hotel. An old property recently refurbished. Rooms are bit on the small side compared to others of same class and category. Service is asian standard: polite, efficient but lack charm and friendliness. I’d come back only if others in same area are not available. Hotel have to try harder to stay competative, especially since others are sprouting up around same area.

It’s best not to rely on taxis whilst in Singapore as it is getting harder to find unless you don’t mind queueing for 15 minutes or more. The MRT is a great way to get around the island and it’s comfortable and cheap.

Could’ve been better

Grand Tower Premium Room Pros: -Recently upgraded -Flat TV Cons: -Leaking shower & sink -Water distribution was terrible (1 cold water day, 1 hot water day) -Discourteous plumber (attempt to fix took more then 2 hours! lasted till 1 AM with my door room constantly open. Should’ve used one the vacant rooms to check instead since it’s not an isolated problem). Took the plumber another 20 minutes after I told him to just leave
