Wonderful place to stay
The Millenium isnt for everyone, as evidenced by other reviews - but its definitely the hotel for me. 1) The staff is amazingly friendly. They really went out of their way to provide excellent service, whether it was providing extra towels for the spa, printing out directions in English so we could take day trips, or giving recommendations about local sites and tourist options. Not all of them are fluent in English, but there was always at LEAST one fluent member on staff. 2) Breakfast is automatically provided, even if you didnt sign up for a room with breakfast. Though mighty impressive, the breakfast buffet is 20 Euro (about 30 bucks) a piece - let the front desk know and they wont charge you for breakfasts that you arent going to eat. 3) Try the Biergarten across the street from the hotel. Their food is very German, very fresh, incredibly tasty and surprisingly reasonable. 4) The hotel has two casinos - the primary gambling hall requires jacket and tie - but there is another smaller one that is more casual. 5) I loved driving in Germany - but you dont need a car. The railway stops right behind the hotel and connects easily to the middle of town or anywhere else you want to go. Save the expense and stress of driving - the German trains are VERY well maintained. Be sure you get your ticket BEFORE getting on the train! 6) Highly recommend Ludwigsburg as a day trip - its less than an hour from the hotel and can be accessed easily by car or train
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
The hotel has a European spa attached on the ground floor. It has multiple saunas, whirlpools, steam baths, etc. and offers 17 types of massage (hot stone, reiki, swedish, etc.). The cost is almost half if you enter after 9:00 pm, and food/drinks are available inside. Clothing / bathing suits are not allowed - you can walk around modestly in a towel, but be prepared for the nudity of others. Theres nothing inappropriate going on - it was actually very relaxing and highly recommended.
