Nice hotel away from the city
The Hampshire Golfhotel in Purmerend is a nice alternative to staying in Amsterdam. The price was reasonable and the staff was nice and helpful. We decided not to take our car into Amsterdam, but opted to take the bus which was only about 2 blocks away from the hotel. The fare was very reasonable for round trip and the bus service ran all night. Parking is free and the area around the hotel was also very nice. It is also close to Volendam which was only about a 10 minute drive from the hotel. We would definitely book this hotel again.

Room is large and clean
especially by European standards. Know I know what people are referring to in terms of being assigned a room close to the front desk. The hotel is definitely in the middle of no where especially if you have to rely on public transportation. The bus lines aren’t far away.

Nice hotel - very quiet
Nice hotel. Rooms are extremely large for Europe. Nice restaurant. Golf course was a plus! Long ways out from Amsterdam. Got stuck in traffic coming and going. Free wireless, but in hotel lobby. Hallways are really long. Ask for a room close to the lobby.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
There are two full 18 holes courses, plus a par 3 and driving range open until 10p.m.
