Vagabond Inn Bakersfield South

I would stay there when visiting Bakersfield but take my own pillows.

Room was kind of small but ok for one night, beds ok but pillows very uncomfortable, my neck was so sore int he morning as if I didn’t rest well, my sister woke up the same. It just happened to be dozens of kids I believe soccer teams staying in several rooms around ours, very noisy specially in the AM when kids started bouncing the balls and yelling about their games, now, that woke everyone up. It sounded as if they were hitting the walls of our rooms with the balls and being upstairs was felt worst.

Newly renovated, great staff, REALLY inexpensive, right off the Highway!

For me, Bakersfield is a mid-point place to sleep while making the trip to Southern CA from Marin, CA (just North of San Francisco). It was obvious some young, dare I say, "hip" couple or group recently purchased this place, nice fabrics & decent modern artwork. The staff was really nice, I’ve seen better breakfasts, but this shouldn’t be a deterent. (there’s a Starbucks literally across the street) It was comfortable, clean and for the 9 hours I was there, very enjoyable! I’d recommend it, no doubt!

Imagine a cheap motel off 99 that isn’t cheap

O.K. it wasn’t awful but I’ve stayed in similar places for about $40. For some reason Bakersfield was pretty much booked by the time I made my reservation. If you find yourself in the same situation, I would recommend this place. In-and- Out Burger is across the street.

This place is an absolute dump. Rooms were filthy & falling apart. Room service never cleaned or made beds, but did a great job of taking all the towels and leaving us with none! The local tweakers stay clear of this out-house because its so bad. Think skid row dive folks. If you have a choice between sleeping in your car and this hole, take the car!

Request a remodeled room

When we checked into our room, we were really disgusted by how dirty it was. The office called shortly after our arrival and apologized for giving us an older room. We were transferred into a newly remodeled room which was fairly clean. The furnishings were updated, although the carpet was not in good condition. The rooms have cable t.v. A computer with internet access and newspapers are available in the office. There is a pool outside for guests to use. The continental breakfast offers coffee, juice, donuts, and hot waffles.

Traveler's tip on dining

Replay Lounge on Buck Owens Boulevard is a nicer sports bar/club for drinks and dinner. There isn’t much night life in Bakersfield and this is a good spot to watch sports on one of their many big-screen t.v.’s. The Lounge is big, modern and has a creative food and drinks menu with import beers on tap.

just ok for the price.

This hotel is convenient if you have to make a 1 night stop in Bakersfield, but no more. The breakfast was correct, but the room cleanliness was not that great. However we have appreciated the swimming pool. The Hotel parking and walkway were very dirty.

Clean, even in the corners!

The last hotel we stayed at was not very clean. It had little "hairs" on the toilet and on the blankets. We were very pleased with the stay we had it was nice to have everything that we needed. It would have been nice to have a little protein for the continental instead of only waffles for the continental, though. Other than that, everything was fine.

Fair value for the price

This is a budget-priced hotel, and worth it--but not more. Room was clean and comfortable, staff helpful. There was some kind of bulge/object under the carpet, and other visitors were using their car to provide music for their in-room party.

Just okay

For our purpose of sleeping and leaving early, this place fit the bill. The staff was curtious but having to speak through a glass window because we checked in after dark made me wonder how the place would be. The room was clean with semi-updated carpet, but the furnishing and wall covering were tired. There was a microwave and fridge, which was nice. Seemed to cater to weekday workers who were up and out early. They had a nice breakfast with donuts, coffee, and juice and flavored cappichino dispensorw, plus fresh waffles you make yourself (not pre-made pop in the toaster kind). Those were tasty. We tried to arrive in time to use the pool, but it closed too early. Would have liked to use those facilities since it gets hot in Bakersfield. Over all, it suited our purposes - we got a good night sleep and something in our tummy in the morning for our next destination.

Was just okay expectations were low so they surpassed those although room was small and not very easy to navigate through.

Go to kernsville and explore the town beautiful drive throught the Sierra Nevadas.

Big Mistake!

Not as advertised.Small room,microwave,and mini-refrigerator.Bed was terrible.Considerable noise because of truck parking on property.Maid service was excellent and appreciated.

Buck Owens Crystal Palace is worth a look..don’t stay for dinner!
