Amazingly inept staff
While the hotel was nice, and well maintained, the staff was amazingly inept. The woman at the desk was able to think of only three places for us to get our evening meal in the area (one being their own dining room), but the next morning we discovered there were several places to eat within easy walking distance - and we never discovered a printed "guide to dining" that was useful. Our experience in their dining room was similar. While our waiter was friendly, he spent most of his time talking to the only other diner in the room. The result was that our food was very slow coming, and he forgot to bring us promised condiments. The next morning at breakfast, a different waiter forgot to bring us coffee until we were nearly done with our meal. Friendliness doesn’t substitute for competence!

Good downtown location!
Overall great experience at the Doubletree. Staff was very friendly, check-in and check-out was quick and easy. Note, parking is an additional $15 a night, its valet, but you have in and out privileges. Only downside, we waited about 15 minutes in a crowd of annoyed people all trying to get their car after checking out. Also, our room was fairly small, 2 double beds, but for 2 people that didn’t spend a lot of time in the room anyway it worked. Good location downtown, easy walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

Very nice staff!
All of my experiences of the staff were very positive. One even found me a sports bar that I could watch an out-of-market football game. Compared to some of the other "service" I received in Milwaukee, I have nothing but praise -- although the bathrooms are a bit small!
