Good location & comfortable stay
Hotel Helios is about a 5-10 minute walk from the main tourist strip, so it is very convenient. If you plan on going up the Tatra Mountains, you will need to organise some kind of transport to get there. We took a cab for 20 PLN and it was no more than a 10 minute drive. The staff were really helpful - looking up bus times back to Krakow, booking cabs and letting us use their internet for something urgent that came up. They were very helpful! The hotel itself is no flash 5-star hotel. Nevertheless, it is comfortable and a convenient spot. The rooms were clean on arrival. Downstairs is an Italian restaurant. We were the only customers but the food was good (we travelled there in the off-season). It is also very convenient that there is a bar and outdoor area. If you plan on going up the Tatra Mountains by cable car, try to pre-book your ticket. The queues are ridiculous and you end up queuing for over an hour and a half. Either that, or get there really early to start queuing!
Traveler's tip on local attractions
If you plan on going up the Tatra Mountains by cable car, try to pre-book your ticket. The queues are ridiculous and you end up queuing for over an hour and a half. Either that, or get there really early to start queuing! Groups had pre-booked tickets, which meant they could get on the next cable car, ahead of any of us queuing up ... hence why we had to queue for so long.

A real Budget Hotel
This Hotel is under renovations. There is no lift so try to get a room on the lower floors. The staff is limited in English. All the rooms are old but clean. The breakfast was well done. The cook is willing to make up some eggs on request. It;s a easy walk across the park to the main resort area. If your looking for a basic hotel with no ammenitys this it it.
