A beautiful and unique oasis in Alexandria
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Morrison House. Entering the hotel feels like entering a gracious home from the past. The room was lovely and clean and the bed was very comfortable, but we did have trouble stabilizing the room temperature with the thermostat and ended up leaving the window open. But the fresh air was good for sleeping, and when was the last time you were able to even open your window in a hotel? Recommend highly. Alexandria was a perfect place to stay, and we will do this again the next time we come to DC.

A Haven from the Maddening Crowds
When you visit Alexandria or the Washington DC area, be prepared for congestion and crowds. We "kept our sanity" by going back to our hotel every evening. Peaceful, clean and a staff that never ceased to meet our needs. Wed stay again.....and again....and again

Geat little boutique hotel
Small, but very personable service. Felt very much at home. The restaurant was top notch, fine and I mean FINE dining. A piano player in the bar invited the guests to sing along. Close enough to Washington to enjoy all the touristy stuff. but far enough away to avoid all the Beltway. Was not in Alexandria long enough to stroll around the historical section that the hotel is located in, but the little shops looked very inviting. Ill make a point of doing so next time Im there.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
I specifically went to DC to see the US Holocaust Museum after reading a new trilogy about the Third Reich. Security is tight because of the recent shooting of a security guard there, but not offensive. An early start is an absolute must, because of the length of the tour and the number of exhibits. The exhibits are intense and extremely informative. There are areas scattered throughout for one to sit in quiet contemplation, and they are very much needed to absorb the horror of the Holocaust.
