Dry Creek Inn - Tuscan Rooms - Nov 09

We stayed here because Hotel H’berg was way too expensive, and we are not the B&B type. I read bad reviews about the Vintage rooms, so we stuck with the Tuscan. The room was very clean, up-to-date, and had nice amenities, except for the narrow stand-up shower... it was clean, but small and felt like a locker-room shower (with the cheap metal-framed door). They should’ve scrapped the jetted tub and put a large tub/shower instead. Location was great. Although right off the highway, we were pleasantly surprised that there was no audible rode noise in the room. The whole Tuscan theme of the exterior was a bit on the cheesy side; almost as if they tried too hard to make it look authentic Italian. The free breakfast at the diner across the street was very good. They shouldn’t advertise it as "continental" because it was far from just pastries and coffee. Overall, considering the alternatives in Healdsburg, it was a great choice!

Good value convenient to wine country

The hotel was easy to find, in very good condition, and the front desk employees were courteous and helpful. The free breakfast at the restaurant across the parking lot made this lodging choice a very good value.

Stay in the new part and make sure you know all available ammenities up front.

It was like two hotels - one was an old-style motel with paper thin walls, the other a very nice modern villa style. We stayed in the old part. While the room was large and well furnished, it was the noisiest hotel experience I’ve had in my life. The person at the front desk at check in didn’t tell us anything about the amenities available to us on the "good" side of the property (breakfast, business center, sauna...). We learned about these too late to really use them based on the duration of our stay. On our side, the wireless signal was so weak, connection was useless. Had to go use the shared computers in the business center instead. Also, learned there was a wine country pass to be had that would have waived all our tasting fees at the area wineries, but the front desk just "forgot" to share it with us, apparently. We learned about his from an innkeeper we met along our wine tours. I’d go back to this place, but would do it differently based on experience. Can’t beat the location, that’s for sure!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Great location for dining around Healdsburg square, access to fantastic wineries and country side, and very convenient to River Rock casino.

Can’t beat the price

This is a reasonably priced, comfortable place to stay with a decent location in Healdsburg. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the room as we were there to visit wineries and restaurants. It served the purpose of what we were looking for, but didn’t exceed expectations. All rooms open directly to the outside and it was annoying to hear everyone pull their luggage across the patterned cement every morning....I don’t know if you can request rooms that wouldn’t have this problem.

Location, Location, Location

Nice rooms, a little pricey for the accomadations, breakfast choices leaves a bit to be desired, business office printer was not functioning (frustrating) so front desk printed our boarding passes (thank goodness). Nice location. Close to downtown and, of course, the vineyards. Nice place to know you can stay if you want to tour Alexander Valley.

Good Value

Even though it is not on the Healdsburg square, this hotel is in a very convenient location. It is close to the main highway that takes you to most wineries, but not noisy. The included breakfast was lovely - it felt like dining in Tuscany. The main room is large, but there is also outdoor seating amid columns and fountains. There was a large selection of continental offerings plus make your own belgium waffles and hard boiled eggs. Rooms were large, comfortable and clean. We would definitely return here.

New Section is awesome

New section of hotel is beautiful. Close to pool, sauna, jacuzzi and breakfast. Lovely courtyard, good security. Excellent location close to highway and wineries. The only negative is there is not much close by for food or entertainment.

In Windsor California this was a lively hotel

What was good: the room was comfortable and nicely decorated. There were two pools and three hot tubs and a work-out room. The continental breakfast was great and creative. What was bad: the continental breakfast was not fully set up an hour after it was supposed to be open. When I asked about the "make your own waffle," the lady told me to read how to do it instead of helping me.

Great surprise!

We initially stayed at the Dry Creek Inn because we couldn’t get a hotel room in the square. We were definitely a little iffy because it was a Best Western, but much to our surprise it was SO nice, brand new Tuscan style hotel and completely enoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

Traveler's tip on dining

Healdsburg Bar & Grill was awesome and very kid friendly.

Dry Creek

Hotel, room, pool, location was very nice. Very, very noisy. Two of the three mornings we awoke to leaf blowers and garbage trucks. The first dat was no big deal but the nextday it happened again. I thought 6:30 was a little early for that kind of noise.

Comfortable and clean.

We stayed in a king room and were impressed with how large the room was and the very comfortable beds. It was pretty quiet and the room was very clean.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Go to Big John’s Market for any cheese, crackers, etc. you might want to take with you to the wineries. Much less $$ than the specialty shops in town.

Ok.

I expected it to be nicer for the price but it was in a decent location. Service was ok but it definately is not a high end hotel.

Convenient hotel near Union Square

The Stratford hotel is a comfortable hotel near Union Square. Rooms are small but adequate. There is only one elevator. The hotel provides a continental breakfast. Staff at the front desk were knowledgeable and helpful. Good location from which to enjoy the sights in San Francisco.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The hotel is on the cable car lines that run to Fisherman’s wharf. Buy a three-day pass for $18 and you can ride on buses subways and the cable cars.

Very Nice

The customer service at the hotel was very good, the rooms were large and clean, the pool was nice, everything was good - refrigerator in room, good airconditioning. Very close to Healdsburg wineries, which we love. Preston is a very good one - try the Barbera.

Comfortable but noisy

The air conditioning was lacking; Starting and stopping constantly. A more efficient unit would help. Also, try to get a room away from the corridors because it was quite noisy with traffic and the carts used for luggage transport. Otherwise, the bed was comfotable and the room was clean and spacious.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

This hotel is a great place to stay if you are visiting the Napa / Sonama wine country.

Dark rooms

This hotel was attractive on the outside and gave the impression that the rooms would be nicer. Overall, the rooms were very dark and dismal. The price is decent for the ability to be close to the wine country, but brighter rooms would fix a lot.

Make sure you book an upgraded room

Last year we stayed in the "Vintage Rooms" and they weren’t kidding with the word Vintage. This year we stayed in the new part of the hotel and it was really very nice.

Good value

This hotel was perfect for our purposes- a clean and comfortable place to stay when we were out wine tasting all day in Dry Creek. The full breakfast makes it really worth it too. Saved us money and hassle in the morning and we could head straight out to the vineyards.

great best western

I haven’t stay in many best western hotels before, we tend to stay at high end hotels, but this trip we were on a budget. We got a great deal and were pleased with the results. The hotel is going under construction, but it was a weekend, so no noise. We stayed in one of their new rooms and was pleased with the comfort, space and the extras. The fireplace and whirlpool bath was nice. It was great for the price.

Traveler's tip on dining

We couldn’t go to the restaurant that was recommended because we didn’t call a few days ahead for a reservation. If you want to go to a romantic dinner, call ahead for recommendations and make a reservation.
