Near the Airport but Not Convenient
This is a new, nicely done, standard (although you pay for internet use) Holiday Inn, which although it is near the airport is not convenient for those using the airport. It is an expensive taxi ride for the distance and there are no restaurants/shops etc. nearby. Our goal was to be able to catch an early morning flight easily, so we chose this hotel. I suspect that it would have been more convenient to stay to the west (Costa del Sol side) of the airport where there is good public transportation and more "tourist-friendly" accommodations.

Taxi fare ripoff but very comfortable
As another reviewer explained, the taxi situation is a huge ripoff. They charge 15 euros to drive less than a mile to the airport but from downtown all the way to the hotel, we paid 13 euros. He explained that is was because they had to drive so far to get there. On another note, the hotel had all the amenities that other Spanish hotels lacked. The bed was a heavenly pillow, the tv was enormous, there was a coffee maker (kind of), ironing supplies, nice tub, BIG soft pillows. I slept like a baby for the 5 hours before our flight.
Traveler's tip on dining
There is NOTHING to eat nearby. In the hotel, you can buy gross white-bread sandwiches from a machine or ice cream. They serve beer, etc. Eat first, then stay. Breakfast is delicious. It makes me hungry thinking about it.

Not a good airport option
We picked this as an airport hotel so we could catch an early morning flight. It turned out to be very difficult to find, there was no airport shuttle and the cabs charged 20 euros to drive three blocks to the airport. We felt ripped off
