A good hotel

The hotel is quite new and in general very good. The room was very pleasant; the closet is not too convenient for hanging trousers. The restaurant is on the expensive side, but there is nothing surprising about that. Breakfast is good. There is free wi-fi in the lobby and I believe in the breakfast room. Ethernet connection in the room is on a per minute basis but will not exceed a certain sum each day. I can never understand why many hotels do not provide internet service for free. Those that do always generate a lot of extra good will on my part. The hotel is a bit far from the airport, but all the airport hotels in Beijing seem to be. It is very hard to find where to get the hotel courtesy car. The people at the information desks did not seem to know and different people told me different things; it took me an hour and a half to get on the limo. This is largely the fault of the airport which does not have a spot where all hotel limos stop to pick up guests. It would be helpful if the confirmation email from Expedia were to indicate the precise spot (it is in the airport parking garage), and also give the name of the hotel in Chinese (I speak Chinese but had no idea what the name in Chinese sounded like). Nobody seemed to know which hotel the Crowne Plaza was, and I was actually directed to another hotel’s courtesy car which stopped at an altogether different place. There is also no courtesy phone to call the hotel.

Good Hotel for a short night stop between flights.

This is a very new and very big hotel built in 2008. It is very close to Beijing international airport (10minutes and 20-30RNB by taxi). The hotel has a complimentory bus to and from the airport. From the hotel, bus goes every hour starting at 6AM. There is the only one problem: there is nothing around the hotel. Telling this I meant nothing at all...

Transit hotel for Beijing airport

If you are taking a holiday in the wilds of China, you neeed to transit overnight in Beijing. As China gets its services to something like world class, it needs an airport hotel, peferrably at teh airprot itself. Crowne Plaza is teh closest I have found so far. Arroving after 10 am at night, I had to take a taxi, there was no shuttle. The driver had to ask for directions but had no problem getting there. I was checked in quickly and got to sleep. I had to get up at 5 am (the wake up call was fien) adn I managed to get a taxi straight away to take me to the airport where cehck in was smooth and eventally got some breakfast. Generally very smooth and not expensive.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Airport transit oernight.
