Old Trafford, the Quays & a 6 a.m. fire drill
Hotel is easy to find. It is within walking distance of Old Trafford stadium, the Quays shopping and dining, and the tram stop to travel downtown. The bar area is snug but was lively on the Friday night before the Man U-Arsenal football match. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Our room had a nice view of the waterway. Breakfast buffet was good. Signs warn to keep bathroom door closed while showering. Someone evidently did not read and the steam set off the fire alarms all over the hotel at 6 a.m. We grabbed our passports and hurried down to the parking lot to see who was still in their pajamas. Sort of set the tone for game day. I suspect the Arsenal fans. We found an American-style sports bar a block away and watched the game on TV. Would stay there again.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
For football fans, the Copthorne seems perfect. It is also easy to catch the Tram right across the street from the hotel to ride into the center of Manchester. Parking is free.

Needs A/C
The really should consider installing air conditioning. The windows dont really open wide enough to cool the rooms in the summer months. It was pretty hot in there each day we returned because the hotel staff kept closing the windows.
