Nice, clean, simple and a good price. What else could you need?

We stayed here for three nights and had no complaints. The room was clean and good-sized with a nice king bed. We had a microwave, coffee-maker, mini-fridge, cable tv, and an ironing board w/ iron in the room. There is a great restaurant with a bar on site, and the outside patio with the big flatscreen and cocktail service was awesome! We would definitely stay here again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Carlsbad Caverns a short drive away, as well as Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, Carlsbad beach on the Pecos, and one of the last Drive-In Movie Theaters!

Pay a little more and stay somewhere nicer.

This motel looks like a rundown apartment complex on the outside, although my room was fine. The staff is nice enough. I did not care for the characters hanging out in the parking lot at night. Mostly truckers, I think.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you’re seeing the caverns, its fine to stay in Carlsbad instead of White’s City, and cheaper to boot!

slumming it

The hotel didn’t have air conditioning when we arrived in the middle of the night. The room had mold in the bathroom the beds were uncomfortable. Vodka bottles all over the hall when we woke up the next morning.

Worst hotel ever

Cob webs were hanging from the ceiling. Boogers were stuck to the pillow case. Carpet was sticky and stained. The toilet had dried feces on it. Beer bottle caps were all over the floor. Shower did not work. Countertop was hanging from the wall. Dead bugs on sheets. By far the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. The swimming pool was trashed and unusable

Stay away from this dump............!!!!!!!!!!!

Air conditioner (~50 db)unit was extremely noisy, and their were stains on the carpet.

Stay Elsewhere

Hotel is old and run down. To expensive for what you get. If you need maid service don’t expect to get until evening and the people at the front desk are very rude. Rooms were not ready upon our arrival which was past check in time. When we did get our room the bed was broken. It was a mess. Find another place to stay or use as last resort!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Visit the Carlsbad caverns - They are FANTASTIC!

Comfortable stay

This hotel worked out great for us. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. It had a musky smell at first but once we turned on the AC the smell was gone. The AC was working great. The showers have the massage showerhead so I enjoyed a comfortable bath. I did not get a chance to check out the pool. Other than that... our stay was a pleasant one.

Good for what it is.....

We stayed here to go to the Caverns. The appearance of the hotel was kinda old looking, however, the staff were very nice and the room was satisfactory for what we were going to do (just lay our head down on a pillow!) The continental breakfast was what you would expect it to be, once again the staff there were very nice. Overall, it was a nice hotel kinda close to the Caverns.

Traveler's tip on dining

The Chili’s down the way is convenient and fast!

Not a place to spend much time

The Ocotillo Inn provided a non-camping venue for my family to spend a night before heading to Carlsbad Caverns the following morning, but not much else. High points: check-in staff were polite and the (mediocre)breakfast was included in the price. Low points:It was one of the dirtiest hotels/motels I’ve ever stayed in - grimy tub, clammy bath towels, stained filthy room carpet. Even the laundry room for guest use was dirty. I’m glad I had a can of Lysol and a roll of paper towels with me, we needed them. In sum, the gorgeous Carlsbad Caverns National Park made up for the inconvenience of this place, but I will definitely seek different lodging if we go back to Carlsbad.

Not bad for the price

I’ve stayed in better for a similar rate. I did like the continental breakfast and the customer service. The hotel also has a good proximity to Carlsbad Caverns, which was nice.

Meh, it was alright

The continental breakfast was not good at all. The hotel is pretty old and not in great condition. However, it is almost the last hotel before you head out the the canyon. Next time, I would try the Best Western or the Comfort Inn.

Great hotel for the price

This hotel was very good. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the service was friendly. If I were going to Carlsbad again, I would stay here again.

Traveler's tip on dining

Very good, very cheap steak and fries on site.
