Inexpensive place for post-cruise stay.
We stayed here for one night after a cruise so that we could hit the French Quarter before going home. It is many blocks from the cruise port, so a taxi is necessary. There are no porters so you have to get your own luggage cart to haul your own bags to your room. The rooms are clean but it is an old building that has been remodeled. It is only about a 4 block walk and 1 block over to Bourbon and Canal. It is a little scary walk at night but we had no problems. Overall, the hotel was inexpensive and acceptable for our single night stay.

Fine choice for Mardi Gras
I stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites Downtown during Mardi Gras ’09. I booked fairly late and the Comfort Inn was one of the cheapest places still available that was reasonably convenient to the French Quarter. The parking is a little inconvenient, they could use a couple more luggage carts and the breakfast was pretty basic but, overall, for the money, it was a fine choice. It was reasonably convenient to the French Quarter as well as to a few of the parade routes.
