A Gift to myself...a wonderfully comfortable B&B for a great price!!
A diamond in the rough in this part of town, and I didnt have to break the bank to stay there! My trip to LA was short and all I wanted was a comfy, peaceful place to return to that was walking distance from my friends house in Los Feliz. HP is more of a B&B run by a lovely family, who could not be more hospitable. It felt as though I was staying with a good friend! My "Bamboo Room," was spacious, well equipped yet simple and serene. The bed was comfy; the lighting soft; the bathroom cozy and inviting. The house is an old Craftsman, which added to the charm. The age of the architecture, mixed with more modern furnishings made it feel homey! The hosts thought of everything, and left some simple surprises which I wont spoil! The common room was also well equipped and comfortable, and theres a sweet little terrace off of it that is perfect for a cup of tea! The kitchen was perfectly outfitted for individual or group use! I was also happy to see the "sustainable" touches throughout the house. It was very easy to come and go; the outside was lovely and lush. I was so relaxed in this peaceful, cheerful environment, especially given the pace of my short weekend away. Part of me wishes I was able to spend more time! Two minor comments...the sheets were soft and comfy, though there was some "pilling" and a few set-in stains, but nothing I was grossed out over! Also, if I am not mistaken, one of the sites did say that there

Comfortable, cozy, a eco-chic
We stayed at this charming pensione house (aka bed and breakfast) on our last trip to L.A. and couldnt have been happier. Located in Hollywood, it is a short drive from the walk of fame, kodak theater, Griffith Park, and close to the on/off ramp of 101 so you can easily get downtown. We were greeted by the owner upon parking our car who offered to help us with our bags and showed us around the house. *Note* the owner encourages guests to call them prior to arriving so that they can make sure the room is ready when you arrive exactly the way you want it. The chic design and focus on ecofriendly and organic products adds to the uniqueness and charm. They offer their guests a full kitchen, personal refrigerator, and laundry machines, making it the ideal place to stay if you plan to visit LA for an extended period of time. The free bottle of wine and chocolates that they give you are just gravy on top of a wonderful experience.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
If you like sushi, there is a place in Downtown (little tokyo) called sushi gen... their fish is top notch and if you go there for lunch, its a bit cheaper than going for dinner. By lunch, I mean 11:15... theres usually a line of people waiting outside starting at 11:00. If you show up later, you may have to wait, though they have enough seating to turn tables pretty quickly.
