Loved It!
It was a great place to stay! Close walking distance to the Beach Boardwalk and to the main downtown strip(Pacific Ave)! The only down fall was the free breakfast. it wasnt much of anything

Sweet service, not itching to get back
Stayed here out of desperation on a weekend where Santa Cruz had little/no vacancy, and paid much more than youd think for a 1.5 star hotel, but overall it worked out. The guy living at/running the place was beyond nice and helpful - service level was much higher than expected for that class of hotel. Room was mostly clean with a few stray Cheerios dotting the floor. Everything was functional, the location great - as far as proximity to the beach goes. Parking was limited - street parking is permit-based (purchase one for $15 - but read the validity details closely).
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Check in early enough to snag a parking spot at the hotel - and avoid needing a street permit/getting a ticket - youll be close enough to walk to the beach/dinner.

Newly renovated1950s motel
The people were friendly and respectful. The freshly painted rooms were clean and comfortable. The beds were flat and firm. The only downside were the paper thin walls and the off and on Internet service. Still, for the price and location, I would stay there again.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Only 3 blocks from the boardwalk. I also suggest checking out the Mystery Spot or Roaring Camp in Felton. Catch the train to Roaring Camp right there on the boardwalk. Get tickets in advance over Internet or phone.
