My husband and I stayed there for a few days, it was quiet, we walked everywhere. I will stay there again. Very inexpensive...

Working on renovations, but ok

Last minute plan to book this hotel turned out ok. A bit off the beaten path in a residential neighborhood. Limited parking. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Had to switch rooms due to furnace issue but was not a problem. Older hotel that was an extended stay place in the past (rent by the week) being renovated into standard hotel rooms. First floor a bit noisy. Door rattled when neighbors closed their doors. Continental breakfast was only juice and cookies.

Steam train ride in Felton worth taking. Great for kids and adults.

Loved It!

It was a great place to stay! Close walking distance to the Beach Boardwalk and to the main downtown strip(Pacific Ave)! The only down fall was the free breakfast. it wasnt much of anything

Sweet service, not itching to get back

Stayed here out of desperation on a weekend where Santa Cruz had little/no vacancy, and paid much more than you’d think for a 1.5 star hotel, but overall it worked out. The guy living at/running the place was beyond nice and helpful - service level was much higher than expected for that class of hotel. Room was mostly clean with a few stray Cheerios dotting the floor. Everything was functional, the location great - as far as proximity to the beach goes. Parking was limited - street parking is permit-based (purchase one for $15 - but read the validity details closely).

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Check in early enough to snag a parking spot at the hotel - and avoid needing a street permit/getting a ticket - you’ll be close enough to walk to the beach/dinner.

Newly renovated1950’s motel

The people were friendly and respectful. The freshly painted rooms were clean and comfortable. The beds were flat and firm. The only downside were the paper thin walls and the off and on Internet service. Still, for the price and location, I would stay there again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Only 3 blocks from the boardwalk. I also suggest checking out the Mystery Spot or Roaring Camp in Felton. Catch the train to Roaring Camp right there on the boardwalk. Get tickets in advance over Internet or phone.

Clean hotel but slightly outdated

Our room with two queen beds was clean, with the second queen bed in a separated space from the primary room (which can be handy for families with kids). We had a small bath room with both the fan and the shower faucet competing to make the most noise (like aircrafts going up). However the bath room was clean and ok. The breakfast was as in most American motels almost unexisting: a cup of coffee, and if you are lucky=early you can get a donut or so.

Noisy

The hotel was extremely noisy. Lot’s of very young and loud kids. But very inexpensive.

Price and Location

The reasons I would recommend this hotel are price and location. The "suite" room set up (second bed located in a very small separate room) was convenient, but the bed was really uncomfortable. There are no luxuries, and the only amenities are the refrigerator, microwave and safe in the room. It wouldn’t take a whole lot of expense to make everything a lot more appealing, but little or no effort seems to be going into those areas. It’s basically a bare necessities, cheap motel. The pool was freezing cold and dirty, but room was ok for sleep, shower, glass of OJ in the morning and the boardwalk and beach are within walking distance. The neighborhood seems fairly quiet and safe.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Walk to the Boardwalk and save on parking.

Great Santa Cruz hotel

This hotel is an older property but is very nice and well maintained by the very friendly proprietors. The location is the fantastic part. It is only two blocks from the beach/boardwalk so you can walk to many great places. The hotel rate is very, very reasonable. This is my fourth stay at the Knights Inn and I consider it my home in Santa Cruz. Can’t wait to go back and have some more "fun in the sun".

Nice hotel and nice price.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It’s cute, although a bit small. But enough for stay a night and then ride. The only complaint is there was not internet.

Traveler's tip on dining

Very close to downtown.

Pay what you get for

For a budgeted hotel room, you get what you pay for. Not the most luxurious room I have ever stayed. But workers there were very friendly and helpful, also the environment was very nice and quiet.

Cheap place in SC

Really close to the beach and boardwalk in SC. Convenient for UCSC visiting parents that are looking for budget hotel too. Old but no smells or stains.

The beach just 1/2 mile north of the boardwalk is great for family picnics and walks with your date.

Would Stay There Again!

The hotel is a bit run down and there are no frills but it’s really quite cute, and was just fine for us to sleep in. If your looking to spend lot’s of time in a hotel room, this may not be the place for you. But if you were like us and just need a place to sleep, I would defiantly recommend it. I would stay here again, no problem! The best thing is that it is a 10 minute walk from downtown Santa Cruz, so there is no hassle with parking, etc.

Worst Motel I have ever stayed in

This hotel is very cute on the outside with new paint and lots of flowers. Don’t be fooled. It is horrible inside. We requested 2 beds and ended up with a room that had one bed and a little dinky side room with a bed (no windows even though it faced the walkway). No one wanted to sleep in that room. The bathroom had been semi-remodeled. New tile on a sloping uneven floor. The new plaster on the walls was chipping off to reveal the mold underneath. No fan in the bathroom, so that problem isn’t going to go away. Though there was one in the little bedroom. The blankets were torn, the chairs stained. When we shut the door, we could still see right outside. It was too small for the doorway. The microwave and TV, I think were from the 80s. And the room stank. I can understand if it was priced in the cheap range, but it wasn’t. What a dive.

Close to the boardwalk

This hotel is in great walking distance to the Boardwalk. We weren’t too impressed with the room. but we were rarely there as we spent the majority of our time on the beach/boardwalk.

great customer service,very nice staff

The place itself was ok for what I needed, a place for my kids and I to sleep after the boardwalk, the matresses were extremely bad, stain on the inside of bedspread, towels poor quality. But on a good note, people were very nice,my kids loved the complimentary continental breakfast, enjoyed the pool, water a little too cold but kids didn’t mind.

Good place to stay.

This was a nice hotel to stay at with just a 4 minute easy walk to the game/ride pavilions. No need to drive and park next to them unless one is handicapped. 6 minute walk to boardwalk. Parking is a bit cramped, but you can get a pass to park on the street. Room with 2 double beds is a tight fit. Some problems with bathroom water noise but management was genuinely concerned and fixed the problem ASAP. My wife and I liked the room and location and would definitely go back again.

Traveler's tip

If you take the back streets, you can miss all of the beach/boardwalk traffic. Very handy!

Good Location

The hotel is a great location to the boardwalk, easy walking distance. The rooms were not very well cleaned though, we found a pair of navy socks and an unopened can of coors under our bed. If you don’t mind that sort of thing it was a good location for the money. Our room was kinda small but I heard some of the others are bigger, just luck of the draw.

Needs repair

This hotel is very close to Santa Cruz boardwalk, we walked back and forth from there many times through out the day. The room itself needs repair badly, the bathroom sink had running faucets, not just leaking but running the whole time we were there. The rooms really need some work very dingy and old. We did not spend alot of time in the room and aren’t really picky since we only needed a place to sleep. No coffee in the room and their continental breakfast opened at 8am, which for me is late. Also no hair dryer. Would probably try to find another hotel next time because it was not that much cheaper than the others. Staff was super friendly, but did ask us about 3 times how many people were going to be in the rooms, (we reserved 2 rooms) My other family members were not going to be there until after 10pm and the office closes at 10pm, so were got the keys to both rooms. One of the rooms had 2 beds in it although we only reserved it for 1, so they said if we use the other bed we would be charged extra thats why he kept asking, kind of annoying though. Why would I reserve 1 bed if there was going to be more than 2 people?
