Great location

The hotel is at a very convenient location. We took the Roissy bus from CDG airport to Opera, the hotel is 2 blocks away from the Opera bus stop. We arrived a bit after 11AM, they had room for us, no problem to check in at all. The room is a little small, they had to put in an extra bed for our teenage son. The extra bed makes it even harder to move around in the room, but it was ok, since we were out sightseeing majority of the time. Our room faced the back road, there is no view at all. The room smells new paint, they should’ve really aired it out. Overall, I would still recommend the hotel. The location is best, it’s close to metro station (Opera stop), and various bus stops. It’s a very busy and safe neighborhood, tons of restaurants and cafes to choose from.

Will definitely return!

We absolutely loved this hotel! The overall decor was spectacular as was our room. It’s across the street from the Opera House and within walking distance of a ton of cafes, designer shopping, and a sightseeing tour. We even walked to the Louvre. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and got us everywhere we wanted to go. There are 2 convenient metro stops and Moulin Rouge is only about a 10 minute cab ride. Per previous reviews, we had read that dining in the hotel was expensive, and that was most certainly the case. We’d recommend venturing out to a cafe (2-5 minute walk) or heading down the block to Subway, McDonalds, or Pizza Hut to save a few bucks. Of course, the hotel restaurants and bar are wonderful, so I’d at least eat/drink there once.

Outstanding Hotel in Great Location

Just before Christmas 2009 we had a great stay at this hotel in downtown Paris. Our only glitch with the hotel was that the first room they put us in had inadequate heat and hot water. The new room was spacious, luxurious and good in every way. Concierge was helpful, location was great, one block away from the Opera Metro station, and a block away from the Galleries Lafayette department store. There were good restaurants everywhere. Paris is different, and the exchange rate was not friendly when we were there. So a 7 Euro cup of coffee in the hotel lobby meant roughly a $10 cup of coffee each. There is a Starbucks within walking distance, and several other options. The subway lines served by the local Metro stop were good in that they took us pretty much everywhere we wanted to go without changing trains. The hotel was universally friendly and helpful - most people we dealt with spoke English - and when we got ready to leave, the Expedia fee had covered everything, which is not always the case in this day of "resort fees" and so forth. A beautiful hotel, one of the nicest I have ever stayed at, rival to the Waldorf Astoria in New York, and the package deal of airfare and hotel for six nights was surprisingly affordable. A great option for any traveler. My wife and I were very pleased to stay in such a fine hotel for our big anniversary.

Would definitely recommend

My wife and I stayed athe Le Grande in September. The hotel was clean, the staff extremely courteous and helpful, and the location was perfect, with the Opera metro station within a couple of blocks. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The restaurant in the hotel was just OK for the price, but you could definitely walk to some good restaurants in the neighborhood.

HONEYMOON IN PARIS

This was our honeymoon so we were hoping everything would be nice. It was. I was concerned with the proximity of the opera to the sights, but it really was just a short walk to get to the Louvre, and the metro was a half block away. This area has tons of restaurants, although higher end, all close and safe to get to. The hotel was very nice, but the sheets and towels smelled of smoke even though they were chgd frequently. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. They all spoke English. Surprisingly, it seemed like most of the people we ran across spoke at least some English. One note, there is NO free wifi in the hotel. They have it but they chg a premium for it. Great trip and great hotel!

We went in October. It was the day after our wedding. It was way too cold! I had originally set up for several tours. Get the Rick Steves book and use the metro. Get the Museum pass to get into the exhibits and museums. We also used the Hop on and Hop off bus. It included the batobus which was cool too. If you do your tours the way Steves says to you can sleep in a bit and not feel rushed all day long. Read the book before you go and pick your sites to see. This saved us over a grand in tours!

A wonderful hotel. Will stay there again.

This hotel was beautiful and the service great. I felt pampered. The staff spoke english so communication was not a problem. I would certainly recommend it to anyone. My Paris vacation was a dream vacation come true

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If staying in Paris for the first time allow at least 10 days to visit. My one week was not long enough.

Beautiful hotel i great location

The hotel is really beautiful and very close to lots of sights. There is a bus that goes to the airport right across the street from the hotel. I wouldn’t recommend eating food at the hotel as it is very expensive and there are a lot of good places to eat in Paris!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Definitely check out the Opera Garnier next door.

Unforgetable experiance

This hotel is in the center of Paris, very close to everything. The metro is across the street, the airport bus stops there, very convinient. It’s for those that want elegance in there vacations. It’s a must if you go to Paris.

Traveler's tip on dining

The best places for dining is around the Opera. It has the best restaurants.

Superb Service at Le Grand

The staff of the InterContinental is first class, especially the Concierge! The breakfast in the Café de la Paix is ridiculously overpriced. That is the ONLY negative.

Great location, great personnel... superb experience

This hotel was simply superb. The staff were helpful and kind and easily spoke English. When we first entered the room, we couldn’t believe how beautifullly and luxuriously appointed. Also, the bathroom had a plug in for American equipment, and the mini bar also had a converter to use for American electronics. The Concierge was always helpful and gave excellent directions; the attendants were superb and inviting at every turn. I would not hesitate to return to this wonderful hotel with a great location. And, the room service provided one of our best culinary experiences! Give this hotel the highest marks possible.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

The jump on jump off tour of Paris was excellent. We were able to plug in the ear phones provided and listen to descriptions of every where we went. We jumped off numerous times over our two day pass and explored many opportunities.
