Beautiful Hotel- in a prime spot!
I was very impressed with the overall experience at Magnolia. The staff was very friendly, especially Gordan! The morning breakfast was a nice perk and I relaly enjoyed making my own waffles! The room set up was very nice and thoroughly enjoyed the stand up shower and extra large tub. When I make my next trip back, I will be staying here!

Very nice
The Magnolia is in a great location and has very comfortable rooms. They have free wireless internet in the rooms and a nice continental breakfast is included as well. The staff were very helpful. There are nice restaurants all around and its close the mall and other shops. The rooms are a nice size with very comfortable beds. Bathrooms are very nice as well.

Magnolia was Magnificent! I cant recommend it enough!
Great hotel in a great, inner harbor location. Stayed there 2 nights in August 2009 with my wife. Got a great rate through Expedia for a lower-level superior room and was put in a corner room with a view of the Parliament building and the famous Empress hotel. (The nearby Empress is a historical landmark worth checking out, but the Magnolia has nicer, larger rooms and is less expensive, and is perhaps in an even better location closer to shopping and restaurants). The Magnolia has onsite parking for $15 per day, but no need for a car as everything is within a 10 minute walk of the hotel. Our room was large, clean, looked new, and had lots of windows. It was also well appointed with a comfy King bed, down pillows, desk, mini fridge, flat screen TV, classy furniture, his/her robes, free Internet access, and about everything you would expect in a 4 star establishment. The bathroom was great, too, with granite countertop, deep soaking tub, and separate glass shower. The continental-style breakfast served in their in-house restaurant was more than adequate with a nice selection of items. We didnt try out their spa or exercise room, but noticed brand new equipment in their small exercise room. I am not sure it would be worth paying extra for an upper-level room, as the Magnolia is only 7 stories high and there are a couple other buildings between it and the harbor. The view in our lower-level corner room was quite nice; and our room and stay was everything we hoped for and more.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Prince of Whales has a Whale Watching / Butchard Gardens combo trip that saves time and money. Included is 3 hours of whale watching, transportation (by boat) and ticket to Butchart Gardens, and a bus ride back to the bus station near the Empress hotel. We paid $130 per person for the whole package, which is a pretty good deal if you price everything out separately. The whale watching was great -- we probably saw around 70 killer whales, and Butchart Gardens was probably even better.
