great with friends
I would love to rent out more than one room in the Lodge with a group of friends, but it was still a very nice stay with just the two of us. A very quaint, quiet place that is very fitting for the surrounding Volcano area. I would definitely go back.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
There is so much to do at Volcanoes National Park just a minute away. Explore the lava tubes, steam vents, sulfur banks, etc and then dinner in one of the local restaurants.

Good option in Volcano
Overall my husband and I were very impressed with our room in the Lokahi Lodge. We had a private bathroom and our own private entrance into the room. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was satellite TV too. It is a house, so there is a common living room and kitchen for your use. The living room has a large assortment of books, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need for your meal (except the food, of course). My only complaint is that the room smelled very musty or moldy. There is no form of air circulation (i.e. no fans or air conditioning). Since it was very cool at night, we were able to keep the window open which helped a little.
Traveler's tip on dining
The Thai Thai Restaurant is very close by, and they have very good authentic Thai food. I would highly recommend it.

I am impressed!
This hotel is actually a house, decorated by stuff from middle ages, such as the old style telephone, piano, etc. Every thing there is so elegant, from the board game, to the cute cards that show the room name at the door of each room. It is surrounded by the rain forest, so without doubt, the environment is perfect. Apparently, this house is not built for the purpose of being a hotel at the beginning, as all the furnitures and facilities are in excellent quality, even better than the one we have in our own home. There is a big living room in the house, where you can find most of the middle ages stuff. This living room is shared by all guests stayed in the lodge. Hotel rooms are actually rooms in the house. Each one has its own bathroom and door through which you can directly go outside of the house without going through the living room. I am so impressed, and will definitely go back!
