Big room, but too noisy to sleep!
The walls must be made of tissue paper at this place. We were woken up starting at 7AM by banging doors and loud talking (adults and children), and once it started it never stopped. Every time someone shut a door or put something down, it sounded like it was in our room. We didnt see the little taped up notice in the corner of the hall until we were checking out that there was maintenance going on at the hotel (which was supposed to start at 8, not 7), and that might have been what it was from. The room was really big, with one queen bed and two double beds pushed together to act like another queen bed--all of which were hard as rocks. There were the usual amenities. Using the shower flooded the bathroom floor with water, so we used all our provided towels mopping it up. The people were neither particularly nice nor particularly rude (i.e. forgettable). I wont stay there again and dont recommend it. We only stayed one night and it was still uncomfortable enough to leave a nope, not again impression.

Horrible horrible place
I will never stay at this hotel ever again. The rooms are straight out of horror films and dont really match the photos. Unprofessional staff did not help, and I felt like I was being lied to with every request.
Traveler's tip on dining
Good Indian and Bangladeshi restaurants a 2 minute walk up the street.

Would Return
The hotel is in very close range to the Aldgate East Station of the the London Underground Tube. That makes it very convenient to travel around town. The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful in assisting its guests with any questions regarding their stay in London. I felt right at home and was very comfortable. There are European style cafes outside the hotel and on the street next to the Tube that have great food at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend The City Hotel for budget minded travelers, you will be very satisfied.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Make sure you come prepared with an Underground Tube map and know the Tube stops for all the attractions you wish to visit. Analyze the map so that you will know the connecting stations for the correct line that will take you to where you want to go. It will save you lots of time and stress.
