Great Location
We come up to Canada about every other month and always stay at the Marlboro. The location is great! We follow I29 north all the way up to the front door of the hotel. Across the street is a parking deck that only charges when you remove the car, so you can park all weekend for $2. The Regal Beagle is in the hotel and has slot machines, pool tables, good draft beer choices and live music. The hotel also has a pool with a pretty fun slide and a hot tub. You can easily walk to many restaurants and bars. Try the Kings Head Pub on King St. The MTS Center is also a very short walk. You will need to drive to the big casinos and the Portage mall. On the downside. It is a very OLD hotel that is in desperate need of a renavation. Some of the rooms are very small and friends of ours have had problems with the temperature of their rooms. The staff can be a little unfriendly at check in, but the later night staff seems nicer.

You get what you pay for...
There is definately a grey area when explaining this hotel there is no black or white on whether or not I would recommend this hotel. The price was great, and once we got into our room it was indeed clean. The area of the Marlborough was a little more sketch. But for someone who will not be spending tons of time at the hotel, the deal is great. We encountered no real problems during our stay, and did just fine with the parking garage across the street. So if your in Winnipeg and staying in a hotel is not going to be the highlight of the trips events then definately partake in this deal.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Most night time attractions, even things such as dinner, are more abundant in other parts of the city. In downtown during the evening hours you find more of the homeless crowd roaming around then anything. So definately search in the NW or south part of the city for attractions in the evening.
