Wyndham Garden Hotel - Overland Park

Well located

The physical location is excellent, hard by the interstate highway and a major street. I have stayed here several times before. This time, exterior maintenance was not up to usual standards. This may have been the result of some exterior facade work, which may have interfered with normal plant bed and other maintenance.

No Impresses

I was not impressed with the hotel. Very old, smelled varnish fumes while they were remodeling. Would not recommend.

the worst hotel ever!!!! If you value your money, don’t go!

This hotel was the worst. For starters, when you go to your room, there really aren’t too many signs that tell you what hall the room numbers are in and there is no elevator. They have no more than 5 channels to watch and one includes a channel advertising the latest movies. We tried to order one and it wouldn’t work so we called down to the desk and found out that they don’t even offer the paperview anymore.

Not too bad

The staff was very friendly and helpful! We thought that we had booked adjoining rooms but they were not and the hotel was very nice about changing us to the rooms we wanted. My sink in the bathroom was not clean when we went in but it was easily resolved. I would stay again!

under renovation

I didn’t know prior to our stay but the floor we were on was under renovation. The other noticeable item was the lack of grounds care. We used the pool and the courtyard area was in dire need of upkeep.

Not Impressed

The room had insects (ants and a spider). For some reason, the cleaning people didn’t want to leave soap for me. The sink had no stopper, not a good thing for a contact lens wearer. Nearest ice machine was on another floor.

Yuck!

I have stayed @ Wyndham hotels before and recently found out that they are independantly owned...basically you don’t know what you are going to get! This one...not so nice!

Close to express way

Hotel was okay, nothing to rave about. I like the fact that it was genearally located near alot of businesses because I was unfamiliar with the area.

Good luck with room service

Unfortunately, there was a staffing issue. Upon arrival, I tried to order room service, but the phone rang 50 times. When I called the front desk, they transferred me back over there, with the same result. When I called them back, they took a message. I did receive a call back from room service, but was told I had the wrong menu when I tried to order. The front desk clerk brought me a new menu, but once again, no one answered. I finally left and went to a nearby Whole Foods to hit the salad bar.

Very reasonably priced with a very friendly staff

Clean, comfortable and very afffordable. Loved the food and hotel staff.

Clean, but LOUD

First impressions are nice but dont plan on sleeping at this hotel. Our bed was horrible with a huge sag in the middle. My husband wanted to flip the mattress but I refused. The doors are paper thin so you can hear people coming in and out of their rooms all night long, not to mention the inconsiderate people who talk and even shout down the hall at all hours of the night. You can even hear people getting in and out of their cars but it’s not as bad as the hall way. The first night I eventually had to use earplugs from the plane ride, the second night we found static on the alarm radio and turned it up to drown out the noise. Even though we left our ’free breakfast bar’ tickets with the breakfast bill, we were still charged over $9 each. The front desk said that they’d take care of it but still an inconvenience. Breakfast was ok, far better than most hotels. Would we stay here again? Heck no. There are plenty of other options in the area.

Not much to be excited about

stayed here last Nov (2007). used the room to help celebrate an anniversary. three stars is about one star too many. everything worked just not that special. reminded me of a Rodeway Inn with new carpet and nicer bar. visit KC alot to see family and stay over the night before i fly home...just not here again.

very nice and home like

We stayed in a single king room, the bed was comfortable, had very nice lenins and pillows -and everything was also clean. they have good soap in the bathrooms. they had shower caps and the bathroom was large. we didnt use the internet or the tv, but the staff was very friendly and we were pleased. i would stay here again. the food was expensive so we didnt eat there. you have to pay to eat.only bad part but restaurats are just around the corner litterally.

we went to oak park mall, ebraska furniture mart and NASCART while we were there and it was so much fun! Eat breakfast at hardee’s or denny’s or something cuz u will pay the same for more food.

Nice Place

My stay at this hotel was very nice and comfortable. The people there were friendly. The only drawback is that this hotel does not have an elevator, so if you have allot of luggage or heavy luggage you will have to climb the steps with it, although they do have staff who is there and is willing to help you with your luggage.

Very nice motel.

Hotel has nice ammentities including full breakfast and outdoor pool for summer travel.

Nice Hotel, Easy Access

This was the first time we have stayed at a Wyndham Hotel. It was centrally located in KC, right off I435 and Metcalf. The room was clean and we got a great on-line rate by booking with Expedia. Would reccommend!!!

Needs a little improvement!

Booking and getting to the hotel were easy enough. But when I got to my room, I found 2 double beds (not the king I had requested), there was no caraffe in the coffee maker, and there was a staff member vacuuming in the hall at 10:30 p.m. On my 3rd night, when I got to the hotel, my key wouldn’t work outside or in my room door. Then I discovered the pay-per-view movies wouldn’t work and after an hour of trying (with the help of a staff person), they just said, "sorry, we’ll have somebody look at it tomorrow." Not a horrible place all in all, but if I go back to KC, I will definitely stay somewhere else. This place does not take care of the details.

Not impressed at all!

We will never go back to this hotel. When we first got there, we had to switch rooms because our first room was so dirty. The carpet had not been vacuumed and the bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned at all. The tub was stained with someone else’s dirt and hair. The second room was cleaner, but not much better. The only good thing about this hotel was the staff. They were very friendly and understanding when we wanted to switch rooms.

Beginning to show wear, but very comfortable

The location is close to the interstate, close to shopping and dining. Rooms are comfortable. Rates are reasonable. Nice recliner in room to relax and read. Nice desk in room to catch up on a little work. In room Internet access is avaiable but at an additional cost.

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Instead of using the in room internet access, plan on bringing a broadband national wireless card if your business relies on internet communications.

not as advertised on web site.They have no knowlege of offer on your reservation, and you have to prove it. VERY TACKY Expedia you are not blameless either.

Great for the price, okay overall

This Wyndham hotel is definitely showing its age, but all in all you’re getting a great deal for Overland Park. The bar/cafe are a welcome touch, the rooms are large and the beds are comfortable. Unfortunately, the walls are pretty thin and you will hear highway traffic at night.
