It wouldn’t take much to make it better.
I have family in the area of Saugerties and we have stayed in another hotel in the past. Seemed that Howard Johnson’s was a better price deal so we picked them this time. The issue was mostly the noise of equipment in the room. The A/C unit sort of worked in room #116 but the 1-10 dial was broken and it had an airplane sound which was hard to sleep around. The refrigerator also had a high pitched sound that only stopped if the unit was unplugged (had to do this for night #2). There must be a way for smoking rooms to smell better too. I imagine they won’t replace the A/C or the fridge, but those things changed we would not have had too bad an experience. When it is just a place to sleep and shower it should not be so disappointing to stay -- equipment noise was a big issue.

Woodstock 40th Reunion -
Was visiting the Woodstock/Bethel area for the weekend. Extremely & pleasantly surprised at how clean and up to date the room was. The bed was very comfortable & the refrigerator came in very handy for small items. The front desk was very helpful with any questions we had. Johnny D’s Restaurant was right next door. Had breakfast there one morning...didn’t have the buffet - as the food looked dried out from sitting too long...but we ordered...and it was fairly good. Waitstaff very friendly. Would definately go back again. Right off the NYS Thruway, Exit 20...easy access.

Unsatisfactory
Hey, I know I got a great deal, so I didn’t expect the greatest. But (1) there was a big cobweb in the corner, (2) the bedspreads had stains on them, (3) there was only 1 towel in the bathroom, and (4) we had to call the front desk for toilet paper!! Honestly the front desk was nice and the response was quick. I think a housekeeper just didn’t do her job. The stains on the bedspread were such a turn-off.
