Good value for the money
Not the best hotel Ive stayed in, but the location is great (a few blocks from Paddington Station) and the price was fantastic for London. I would definitely stay there again.

Good for families with children
Cheap (relative to Londons prices), clean, simple, good located (near two tube stations, Hyde park, Paddington station that connected to airport by Heathrow shuttle). Friendly staff, there is a fully equipped kitchen in the rooms thats very good for families with children.
There are different rooms in the hotel under the same category. We were four and ordered two double rooms, but me and my son got much smaller room than my friend and her daughter. The room was very dense. Try to clarify before your order what will be in your room and at which size it will be.

Hotel Needs Maintenance
I realized when I booked this hotel that it was an old building and I did expect a typical European hotel. But I think the three star rating and the photos were misleading. The main problems were the condition of the hotel. The carpet and flooring were stained. The sofa had stains so bad that we had to put a sheet over it. The freezer in the kitchen needed defrosting as the frost was so bad that you couldt put anything in it. The stove top was very dirty. The wallpaper was ripped and the walls were in bad need of paint. The double hung windows were broken so that they would not stay open. I had to wedge something in the window to keep it open. The floors creaked very badly. The faucets in the shower did not work well and we never got hot water (luke warm only). We even tried to take showers at non-peak times - still no change in the water temperature. The positives were a good location near Hyde Park and Paddington Station. The Tube was only a few blocks (several lines nearby). The neighborhood was safe. The staff on check-in was courteous and helpful. We did request a double bed and got two twins (not a big deal). The wireless Internet was free for your own laptop in the lobby and worked well. It did not reach the rooms. There were two computers in the lobby with pay-for Internet. One of the computers had an out of service sign. Also one of the lifts was out-of-service. I probably would not stay here again. The place needs some TLC.
