great hotel, friendly staff
This is a great hotel to stay in Lisboa. It is very new, so the rooms look nice and trendy. Staff is extremely helpfull and always help with suggestions for restaurants, directions, etc. Staff: The hotel does not have a concierge, but the frontdesk take care of all you need. The lobby of the hotel looks great, as well as the lounge. The breakfast is good, with fruits, great cheeses and breads. Location: The location of the hotel is perfect. It is close to Av. da Liberdade and Marques do Pombal, and just 15 minutes walk away from the heard of downtown (baixa), where you can see Justa Elevator, for example. Also, for dinner at night, your are 15 min walking distance from Bairro Alto. Taxis are not very expensive (5 euros to Bairro Alto) and the metro is also close by. Ive been to Lisbon before, and to me this location is by far the best. Overall, I had a great time there. All the restaurants suggested by the staff were great and they were friendly and helpfull.

Great service at a fine hotel in a quiet neighborhood
We had a wonderful time at the Eurostars Das Letras. The staff were very helpful and charming. The rooms were clean and modern. They were small but that is to be expected in a European city. The breakfast was good but expensive (in part due to conversion rate); we had a good deal on the rate including the breakfast otherwise would not have had it. The neighborhood is not touristy - near the metros (though have to walk up a steep hill). Easily walkable to the tourist destinations of the city.

Loved It!
Das Letras is a wonderful, relatively inexpensive 5 star (European standards) hotel located on a quiet street and within walking distance to many things. My room was very clean with a comfortable bed and an excellent shower. The breakfast is nice, but get it only if it comes as a good deal with your room. Dont pay for it separately..its a bit on the pricey side and cant say its anything impressive. The staff is exceptional! In fact, all of the Portuguese people are just wonderful, lovely people...very modest, humble, polite, and extremely helpful. The country has a relatively small population size and there are not that many tourists...at least compared to other European countries. Although this may be unfortunate for Portugals economy, its a wonderful treat for tourists who want a more authentic experience.I loved it and would definitely go back
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
With 3+ days in Lisbon, skip the day tours & hop on the Metro. Its simple to use & connects to the bus/trains which will take you all over the country. Visit Sintra! Its touristy & pricey, but surreal. See Pena castle with its eclectic architecture. Go to Evora for a more authentic flavor of Portugal & to Fatima whether youre religious or not. Check out the coastal parts of Lisbon! If you have more time, go down to the southern tip (Algarve) for beautiful beaches & diving!
