Super 8 Motel Downtown - Graceland

Do not Stay at this Motel 8!

I mistakenly thought Motel 8 locations were all decent quality. This is one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The facilities are dirty and run-down. The location is very inconvenient and in a full blown slum. An absolute dump. The pool hasnt been cleaned in what looks like months. Also, if this is "a convenient downtown" location, I’m not aware of which town they refer to. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more to go somewhere else. If you dont, you will wish you listened.

Worst hotel ever! Bad part of town.

I am not one to complain. Matter of fact, I have never given a bad review. But, there’s a time for everything. I have never stayed anywhere that was so poorly taken care of. Here are only a few of my complaints. 1 the carpet was wet from the air conditioner leaking 2 there were flies in the room 3 the room had an aweful smell 4 everything in the room was rusted I knew we would be staying at a cheap hotel but I figured it would at least be clean. HA not exactly. I was horrible. Truly horrible.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

I’m all for cutting corners where ever I can to save a buck. Trust me. Spend the extra $20 and stay somewhere else.

Great for the price

I had my reservations (no pun intended)about this hotel after reading some of the reviews, but ultimately decided to roll the dice, as that it was cheap and very convient to everything, and was quite happy. It’s not a Sheraton, or even Holiday Inn, but if you’re just looking for a clean room to stay in while visiting Memphis this is it.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Call the hotel before your trip and ask about the prices on their shuttle service, you might be able to skip on renting a car for part or even all of your trip.

Affordable - and Acceptable

This isn’t a luxury hotel, so people complaining about crazy stuff are just spoiled former rich people. This is an adequate hotel with quick access to downtown Memphis for conventions or conferences.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

No movie theatres or bookstores anywhere near downtown Memphis. :( The only thing happening there is Beale street with Music and Food, which is good though.

the door to hell

well it all started when we arrived this place was in a run down part of town had to do a nascar pit stop to get off the freeway just to get there then they did not have a room on the first floor like I booked they put us on the third floor and said we had to wait two hours for them to clean the room. Well after the wait we went to the room only to find it filthy and the door and safe had both been broken into and did not work right.. We had booked a two day stay but after staying up most the night because of the police and noise we left,and when we complained about the room they said sorry but did not give us a refund for the unused stay. This place should be shut down and demloished.

Don’t ever want to stay at Another Super 8 Motel in My Life !!!

First I arrived and they couldn’t find me in their computer. I gave them my papers with my reservation number and itineary number and finally I became a guest. I got to my room, and all seemed okay so far as the air conditioning and the refrigerator were the only perks in the deal of no return. The wall fixtures were not in place, hanging like some kind of brawl took place in there. But the biggest repulsive thing that went down was the invasion of roaches, the ceiling in the bathroom had water spots from leakage. Most of my time was spent at the VA hospital anyway with a friend that was sick. So finally a day or so before my check out date. I ask that they change my sheets or give me some sheets to do it myself. I was told that they didn’t have any extra sheets. So my last night there before driving back on a 5 hour ride, was slept on the blanket and comforter. The continental breakfast was okay. I would love for a Mystery Hotel Guest to survey this Hotel from Hell with a side order of roaches to be put where they belong "OUT OF BUSINESS" !!!.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make sure that the Hotel is worth the money you spend and has standards that will be honored, because the consumer has the right to expect the best for their hard earned money and time.

Probably will never go back

The hotel was very run down. There was extreme mold on the walls. The bathroom was very run down with mold all over it. The people at the desk were very nice and accomodating but it was very late at night and too late to find another room.

Not Inpressed

Staff was friendly, but that’s about as far as it goes. I was new to the area, and the pictures can be deceiving. Area the hotel is located in is not the best area to be in. Cab fares were expensive to and from this hotel. Will not stay there on any future trips.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Have a designated driver!!!! Our cab fares were very high!! you can save a lot of money by driving yourself. If you go for the reason I did, (bachelor party) you are better safe than sorry. The nightlife is great though.

Scary location

The hotel was OK. Nothing great or fancy but the people were friendly and service was acceptable and you couldn’t ask for a more convenient location from the high-way. What was scary was the location. On one side was a large field of mown grass called a "park". On the other were several abandoned/falling down buildings. Not a place I would venture out of after dark. Perhaps the location is more ramshackle than it actually is but...... I wouldn’t bet my life on it.

Cheap but safe

Cheap motel, not very clean rooms in a dodgy area - still felt safe and was close to everything.

Economical - No Amenities

If finding a room real close to Beal Street is what you are looking for, then you are in luck with this hotel. It is a low price cab ride from Beal and is a very basic place to lay your weary head. It is almost under the "old bridge" overpass into Memphis in an industrial setting, but you can’t beat the price and proximity to party central: Beal Street.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Beal Street. 2.2 miles away. Lots of fun. Bring lots of cash. Make a day of it. Bring Tylenol for the morning. Go home smilimg knowing all that you have consumed.

Not impressed

extremely run down, not very safe area, no feeling of safety in the hotel. friendly staff, but doesn’t know anything about the hotel at all.

will use it again

they helped us find a place to eat. had brochures out for use to see different places to go and to see was not bothered by anyone I had a GREAT time that was my 1st time to Memphis and we plan to take the kids and go to the zoo later this year

Dark and Scary!

Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and furhter from the the bars on Beale street than expected. There is nothing around but the highway. Big room, big beds, but not comfortable. The elevator was creepy, the only thing creepier was the stairwell. The lobby stank of way too much fruity air freshener, but the room smelled of nothing but mold.
