Oslo Getaway
We were recently in Oslo and stayed in this hotel. It is a small hotel in a quiet residential part of town, away from the hustle and bustle, but still within walking distance of the main harbor area. It is also close to a bus that takes you to either downtown or Viegoland Sculpture Park (a must to see). It is not luxurious, but quite adequet with a great buffet breakfast.

Good hotel for the price
Hotel was beyond the main strip which was nice as there was less noise polution. Easy to get to using public transportation.

A pretty nice tourist class place
My room was small, of course (it’s Europe--hello), but nicely laid out and kept quite clean. The single bed did not seem quite level and the TV remote did not change channels after the first day. The phone did not work the first day; I told them abouot it, but I didn’t have occasion to use it after that. A big plus is the huge breakfast buffet with both American items and traditional Scandinavian (cold cuts, cheeses). It was the most comprehensive breakfast buffet I’ve enver encountered in a hotel anywhere. The staff is very helpful, and they even loan you umbrellas for the day. Plus the hotel is only a healthy walk to the town center and most attractions.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Take the boat tour from the main harbor dock (within walking distance) that goes to the Kon-Tiki Museum, then they pick you up on a bus and take you to the Viking Ship Museum, the big Cultural Park, the sculpture garden and on a city tour. I just took a taxi from and to the airport and it was worth it. I tried the trains, to go to the Munch Museum for instance, but I couldn’t figure out the ticket machine (no English), so ended up walking, which I enjoy anyway.
