Not a good experience
When we booked I called ahead to make sure they had adjoining rooms, and they did. I booked 1 minute later with Expedia and requested adjoining rooms. When we got there, they had separated us. As a family with 5 kids, it would not have been fun to have to sleep with out connected rooms. They didn’t even offer any other options. Just told me that they had no more connected rooms. They were very rude, I felt. I had to discuss it with my husband, and when I came back they ask. "Do you want it or not?" At that point I knew I wouldn’t probably ever go back to that hotel again. We went to the Holiday Inn Express off of Lake Lansing Rd. in east lansing, booked by phone before we got there. We we got there they had somehow double booked the room that we had reserved. They bent over backwards to help us. Gave us a Suit that slept all 7 of us for 1/2 the price. I will go back to that hotel every time I need one in that area, even though it was another 20 miles away from where we usually want to be.

do not book here!
very unhappy with hotel. Room was booked for 4 people, but we were only given 2 bath towels! I called for 2 more which they brought a couple hours later, and when they cleaned the room the next morning, they took our towels and left us with 2 towels, i called the front desk and they said they were out of towels until the next day! The toilet was leaking all over the floor, the tub had a really slow drain, there was no alarm clock in the room, the pool are looked nice, but the jacuzzi was way below the water level, and cold! it also needed to be cleaned. Also, the hotel is called Best Western. There is no sign anywhere saying Avalon West! We spent an hour looking for the hotel, when i finally pulled up to Best Western to ask where Avalon hotel was. They said they were Avalon, but they didn’t have a sign up. Last but not least, my son injured his leg at the wresling tournament, and the elevator was not working! We had to carry him up and down 2 flights of stairs! I was so happy to get home after staying at this hotel!

Not what was expected
First off don’t expect anything bette than an old Best Western because that is what it is in fact I passed the hotel looking for it 3 times as they changed the sign to a Best Western and not even on this site is it mentioned. Room wasn’t bad but not great either, hallway has that old smoke feel that hasn’t been properly cleaned in months or even years.
