Perfect Inexpensive Getaway
The hotel was in a great location with access to the subway right there, and a short walk to Riverside Park. A block away was an excellent Mexican restaurant, Mama Mexico, great food and margaritas and a really fun atmosphere. The hotel lounge Kazbar had a great bartender and even better happy hour prices. The Manager had excellent suggestions for nearby restaurants and nightlife and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel room itself was very cute, not luxurious, but had all the necessary basics and was very clean. The hallways and stairwells were really dark though and there is no elevator so dont bring heavy bags. Definitely looking forward to a return stay at Marrakech.

Just as promised ... memorable decor and vibe
My wife and I and another couple stayed here for our first trip to New York and we would definitely stay again. This place had just the kind of character and vibe we were looking for ... it helped, of course, that we are drawn to everything Morrocan / Arabic. This hotel was a visual treat to stay in for a week. It was nice to get a place with some character yet still more affordable than many other places. And the location right on Broadway was great. It was away from all of the hustle and bustle of the downtown, but a subway station is right out the door and made getting around easy. The location is good as well for the restaurants and pubs in the area - more authentic it seemed to us than what you would get downtown. I can see that the lack of an elevator would be a factor for some people, but the hotel staff were always on hand and prepared to help. And the front desk staff were very helpful as well with helping arrange two excursions we were interested in taking during our week there. The rooms were on the small side but quite comfortable ... they were clean and very nice for the price ... no problems with them while we were there. The space didnt seem to be an issue, as who needs a larger room when you are in New York? We were there to sightsee and do things ... not just stay in a hotel. All in all ... a very, very nice stay, and we heartily recommend this hotel
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Starbucks is right outside the front door ... really enjoyed the Smoke jazz club across the street and down the block ... great East Indian restaurant nearby and Italian (Meridiana)
