Perfect Inexpensive Getaway
The hotel was in a great location with access to the subway right there, and a short walk to Riverside Park. A block away was an excellent Mexican restaurant, Mama Mexico, great food and margaritas and a really fun atmosphere. The hotel lounge Kazbar had a great bartender and even better happy hour prices. The Manager had excellent suggestions for nearby restaurants and nightlife and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel room itself was very cute, not luxurious, but had all the necessary basics and was very clean. The hallways and stairwells were really dark though and there is no elevator so dont bring heavy bags. Definitely looking forward to a return stay at Marrakech.

Just as promised ... memorable decor and vibe
My wife and I and another couple stayed here for our first trip to New York and we would definitely stay again. This place had just the kind of character and vibe we were looking for ... it helped, of course, that we are drawn to everything Morrocan / Arabic. This hotel was a visual treat to stay in for a week. It was nice to get a place with some character yet still more affordable than many other places. And the location right on Broadway was great. It was away from all of the hustle and bustle of the downtown, but a subway station is right out the door and made getting around easy. The location is good as well for the restaurants and pubs in the area - more authentic it seemed to us than what you would get downtown. I can see that the lack of an elevator would be a factor for some people, but the hotel staff were always on hand and prepared to help. And the front desk staff were very helpful as well with helping arrange two excursions we were interested in taking during our week there. The rooms were on the small side but quite comfortable ... they were clean and very nice for the price ... no problems with them while we were there. The space didnt seem to be an issue, as who needs a larger room when you are in New York? We were there to sightsee and do things ... not just stay in a hotel. All in all ... a very, very nice stay, and we heartily recommend this hotel
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Starbucks is right outside the front door ... really enjoyed the Smoke jazz club across the street and down the block ... great East Indian restaurant nearby and Italian (Meridiana)

Good hotel for the location
The hotel has perfect for the tyoe of trip my wife and I were on. The location is fantastic and it is about 80 feet from the 103st subway stop. I had my business meeting around times square and it took me only about 15-20 min to get there ona business day using hte bubway. The service was good and they have a bag check available. The rooms and hallways are small but they are comfortable. Besides if you are in NYC and you are speding most of the time in your room you are LAME!!
Traveler's tip on shopping
A good little market is just up from 103rd st and i think it is open all night.

No elevator
It is a very dark hotel and rooms are very small. There was no elevator and I had to carry my bags up 3 flights of stairs.

Decent Hotel, Not a great location though
The hotel is pretty nice, certainly worth the money.. The only problem is the location, out of the way, and not in the best area.

Almost perfect!
I stayed in this hotel a week. The hotel is located in excellent location (102 St and Broadway) near is the subway station and is very safe to walk. When we check in the room was perfect, but in the night the ceiling lamp started to fail so we told to the manager and he told us theyre gonna fixed it, it never happen! After three times, we suggest if they could change us to another room, and that is what happen at the end. The only thing I didnt like it was the ceiling lamp of the room,

Initial impression negative, turned out quite good
The stairs were quite a climb. We had two heavy suitcases and a young man came down and literally ran up the stairs with them. Room was Spartan; no hooks to hang a towel, lots of places to stumble. In the end, however, we ended up liking the place. The staff was polite, friendly and helpful. Right on the subway line so easy access to all points in Manhattan. Wed stay at the Marrakeech again, but if youre looking for luxury, find another place.

Nice location. Lots of good restaurants nearby and easy access to the subway. Fun little bar, nice staff. Inexpensive for NYC.

Cant wait to go back
Hotel was great for the price. The only thing was that the room was kinda small but I guess if your only going to be using it to sleep its more than perfect. The only thing I didnt like is that on one of the occasions I found paper in the toilet when I had already left the room. Maids should use their own bathroom or at least clean up after themselves properly.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The hotel is like 2 blocks away from central park, the church of Saint John Divine and right outside the door is the entrance to the metro( which is very convinient)

Fair value
Small colorful and eclectic hotel on the upper west side. Did not try the Kasbah bar but it looked interesting. As noted in several reviews, no elevators so need to walk up to registration on 1st floor and up to rooms. Hallways were tired looking but rooms clean, modestly furnished and compact with fairly small bathrooms. Lots of good restaurant choices surrounding the hotel. Easy subway access. Overall reasonable value in NYC if you are looking for a convenient reasonably priced place to lay your head at night.

No elevator
The hotel has good location and subway, Starbucks, and supermarket are quite near. Its a boutique hotel and NO elevator. The lobby is impressed but in second floor, which mean maybe you need carry your luggage up. The room is kind of small and bathroom is small, too. Staff is friendly and kind. Once you check in then they will give you a NY subway maps and other tour coupon that is really useful when you go NY for vacation.

Simply Excellent and a TRUE Value
Do not miss this opportunity for TRUE value. I love this hotel. I will stay here whenever I am able to in NYC, from now on. Marrakesh is simply excellent for the price. The rooms are not "big", but perfectly comfortable and very clean. The staff is friendly and efficient. There are several markets within two blocks for fresh fruit and other items great for keeping your energy up on the go. Do not buy-in to the naysayers. This place is the real deal.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The Thai restaurant next door to the hotel is one of the very best I have experienced, and this is from one having eaten in Thailand. Tom Yum soup... geesh... it was SO GOOD! The 103rd Street Subway station is less than 200 feet from the entrance to the hotel. Hop on a go!

Just Okay
Maybe because Ive never been to New York until recently is the reason that I cant appreciate this Hotel more. It was clean and neat but not exactly what I expected in a hotel. In comparing it to the many other hotels I have styaed in fron Las Vegas, Nevada to Orlando , Fl and even Biloxi, MS, this one is lacking. It was very hard on me and the children to walk up four flights of stairs with heavy luggage in the narrow hallways. It is more like a hostile than a hotel.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
If visiting New York, we found that using their transit system both subway and bus was much more cost effective and more fun than taking a cab everywhere. Get a metrocard for the day and use it to ride the bus and subway all day. Youll be able to see more of the city as well.

Good deal in Manhattan
We stayed for 4 nights, the hotel staff was very friendly. The rates were the best we found in Manhattan with a private bathroom. The rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. The 1 line is literally right next to the hotel so it is easy to get to time square and other sites. There are a lot of local affordable restaurants-thai, chinese, and mexican. I would stay here again.

Away from Downtown
The Hotel is located a bit away from downtown but the subway station is just across the street, so it is easy to get transportation to one place to another. The hotel does not have an elevator, so you have to walk couple of stairs to get to your room and the reception. Good exercise for the day, I would have to say. The Hotel staff are really friendly and is willing to assist you on your tour and give some advise on local restaurants and clubs. The Hotel is a great place to stay if you want to be away from the crowded downtown and experience more of the local neighbors of NY.

Clean but basic
Bid cheap got cheap. But room was clean. Window air cond unit was unable to cool room. Biggest disappointment was front desk staff took zero responsibility for the transportation to airport they had arranged and already charged me for but no such services occurred.
Traveler's tip
Just dont rely on front desk services. If you want a basic bare but clean room then ok hotel

Nice Place for Short Stay in Manhattan
This was a nice place to stay for 3 nights in Manhattan. The room was clean, the staff was very outgoing and helpful, and the location to the subway and restaurants/stores very convenient. It was a little cramped for the two of us, but how much time do you spend in your room when in NYC?. We would stay here again.

Great place to stay - I will stay again
Marrakech Hotel is a small boutique place in upper west side. The benefits are: clean, sheets changed daily, great location, right on the subway, plenty of restaurants, Starbucks downstairs. One of the best value hotels in NYC. It has no amenities but it is designed tastefully, and it was a delight to stay. I would stay there again.

Great place to stay for the money
I would recommend this hotel because it is right next to the subway, starbucks, and some good random restaurants. I went on a solo trip this time and found it very convenient that the subway was literally right across the street. The hotel staff was very professional and helpful. Being a female alone in the big city, I felt safe in this hotel. The only thing that was odd was the noise from the pipes when the toilet flushed. Other than that, the place was perfect for a weekend stay. Seemed pretty clean and the AC was a life saver!

Impressed and would stay here again
Initially when I read the reviews, I was skeptical about staying at the hotel since others reviews werent so great based on the hotels small rooms, and no elevators. Well to be honest, those stairs were not bad at all, and the hotel room was a perfect size for the price I paid. Plus, I only needed a place to sleep and shower, and wasnt going to be in the hotel all day long. The only thing was that the bathrooms were small for a relatively decent size room. The smaller the room, the bigger the bathroom. With its size, its hard to move around in there, and only fits one person. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel was great for the price.
