Lacks basic amenities
Can you believe that if you have your bath after 9 am, there is no running hot water. Even 1 star motels provide that. The management knows it but does not want to do anything about it.

Location location location
The entrance and lobby are attractive, and the staff is friendly at the Ameritania. However, our room was really small. We had a queen bed. The floor was damaged/sunken under the carpet tiles in a medium size area. The bathroom was tiny, and Ive never seen such a small vanity & sink. Our first impression was dismay. We called the desk to ask for an upgrade, but they only had another room with a king bed, and it didnt sound like the room was any bigger. We stayed, realizing we would not be in our room much. However, we were on the 6th floor, so we heard a lot of street noise. We bought ear plugs after the first night. I will say that the shower was great. The Twist Lounge was closed for our entire stay. Its all about the location, which was great - close to the Ed Sullivan Theater, Carnegie Hall, Central Park. This hotel has a great price for the location, but I would not stay there again.
Spring or Fall and stroll thru Central Park at its prettiest.

Ok for vacation travel -- not good for business travel.
The hotel is clean. The renovations shown in the pictures are superficial and cheaply done. Its OK if you want a vacation hotel room and you dont plan to do much except sleep. For business, I could not wait to leave. I was supposed to stay for a 14 day business trip, but after four days, I found another hotel. The place is not set up for business. The desk is tiny, there is no business center, and even the front desk could not print and/or fax a document for me. There is no room service or coffee service in the room. It is in a good location -- theater district and a few blocks from Times Square. My client was in Herald Square and it was easy to walk (nice 1 mile walk) through Times Square to the client. Neighborhood seems safe at night too.
Dont stay at this hotel.,
